Team Ninja has just confirmed that they are beginning development of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3!

http://gematsu.com/2015/08/dead-alive-xtreme-3-development

Finally! Finally after 9 years they're making a new DOAX. They say they're only planning to release it in Japan and Asia, but I don't care, I'll just import it. This isn't the kind of game that requires language skills to enjoy anyhow.

Here's hoping they go with a more open-world gameplay style this time instead of just minigames and cut scenes.

Boobs, titties, and butts. (Those are my favorites.)

You mean you don't play DOAX for the articles?

Ok after giving it some thought, here's my wish list for this game:

Make it for home consoles (PS4 and maybe XB1) instead of just the Vita, which is where most of the risqe Japanese games usually end up. Current platform is unknown, BTW.
Include ALL of the DOA girls, even the DLC characters. Make Nyotengu a special boss in the volleyball part since she can fly.
Bring Rio Rollins Tachibana back as a playable guest character/casino dealer, she's the only reason I prefer DOA Paradise over DOAX2. Maybe add some of the other characters from Rio: Rainbow Gate, or maybe some Senran Kagura guest characters?
Make new character models instead of re-using the spruced-up PS3/360 models from Last Round.
Make the game open-world with a day/night cycle and actually let us play as the character we select. Instead of having activities take place in cut scenes, let us actually travel there and do those things manually.
Include a mode that doesn't have a vacation time limit.
If a girl doesn't like the swimsuit you gift to her, make her send it back instead of throwing it away.

It's coming to PS4 and Vita! Somehow, I already knew.

http://gematsu.com/2015/08/dead-alive-xtreme-3-announced-ps4-ps-vita

What's interesting is how each console is getting a different version of the game. Looks like I'll have to double-dip on this one. Oh, and it might get localized if demand is high enough.

http://gematsu.com/2015/08/dead-alive-xtreme-3-might-come-west-demand-high-enough

Sucks that the entire female cast won't be in it, but I'll for damn sure download some of those themes to vote for my favorites.

Haha, i knew it too it would be for Playstation consoles. Although i was surprised that there is not a PS3 version. I am curious to see the differences between two versions and if it's worthy of double-dip.

The Good: The character-voting themes are up on the US PSN too!

The Bad: There's no Rio Rollins Tachibana theme.

The Ugly: The themes are $2.99 each.

Available themes are: Ayane, Christie, Helena, Hitomi, Honoka, Kasumi, Kokoro, Leifang, Lisa, Marie Rose, Mila, Momiji, Nyotengu, Rachel, and Tina. At least the DLC ladies and the female NG guest characters are options. Remember, only 9 of the 15 will be chosen for the final game.

With only 9 women in the launch version, they'd better make plans for character DLC in the future.

*EDIT*
Ok, I've downloaded the Rachel, Mila, and Lisa themes. My civic DOAX3 duty is done here. I might download the Nyotengu, Momiji, and Helena themes soon as well.

We now have the first batch of screenshots. The models look a bit last-gen, but still much better than the ones in DOAX2.

I know, right? I've heard rumors that only the Japanese downloads actually count as votes. If that's true then I guess we know why now. She wouldn't have stood a chance if the voting had been global.

This kind of makes me wonder if when they said a potential western release would be modified, they meant a separate character voting session instead of censorship. Oh well, I still don't regret buying those themes. Maybe they're using them to gauge western interest in this game?

Well from what i am seeing (not talking about the poll specificaly) she is a popular character in Japan. Still the irony....

I don't think the ''modifications'' they talked about for the western release was about the characters. They probabaly won't even make a separate character voting session for the west. Let's wait for localization news first.

The playable characters have been finalized: Marie Rose, Honoka, Kasumi, Ayane, Kokoro, Nyotengu, Hitomi, Momiji, and Helena.

http://gematsu.com/2015/09/dead-alive-xtreme-3-launches-spring-2016-japan-playable-characters-announced

And it's releasing in... Spring 2016!? Wow, that didn't... take long at all. I mean, they had just started development when I made this topic.

Anyhow, I can live with this character roster. Very pleasantly surprised that Helena got in.
__________________________________________________________________________________

Official release date announced: February 25th, 2016.

http://gematsu.com/2015/10/dead-alive-xtreme-3-launches-february-25-japan

Marie Rose and Honoka will be the cover girls for both versions. Butt Battle confirmed as a minigame, as well as Beach Volleyball (duh). The game is already 18% finished. Fortune (PS4 Version) will retail for 9,504 Yen (US $79.30) for the standard edition, and there will be a 14,904 Yen (US $124.36) Collector's Edition. Venus (Vita Version) standard copy will retail for 8,424 Yen (US $70.29) and will have a 13,824 Yen (US $115.34) Collector's Edition. That is really fucking expensive, even for the standard copies. I have no idea why they couldn't include all the girls at these prices. :cringe:

Later on there will also be a Core Fighters-esque digital only version that comes with one girl, and the rest are available as optional purchases. With this sort of system set up and K/T's past history with DOA5, I think it's safe to say that new character DLC is all but confirmed.

There's going to be a live stream sometime today (October 14th) with the latest game footage. Hopefully they'll explain the high prices and the differences between the two versions, as well as the CE contents.

Are you sure? 18% for a game that is coming out in 4 months?

EDIT

First gameplay footage

While quality sucks, the character models and their movement look amazing. It reminds some of the CG videos in Final Fantasy.

Not like they can't recycle assets from DOA5 and mechanics from DOAX2.

Well i guess they can recycle but only from DOA5. DOAX2 was an early 360 title that was released in 2006. It probably used the DOA4 engine or a softly modified one but DOA5 uses a new engine called Yawaraka Engine.

That's what the article said. They'll need to haul ass to get it done in this time frame. Anyhow, the game looks great from what I could see in the video. We've got some new screenshots now.

http://gematsu.com/2015/10/dead-alive-xtreme-3-screenshots-butt-battles-volleyball

The first one almost made my heart skip a beat, I thought Honoka was Rio. Then I noticed the hair pin.

Ok, five main things I'm hoping for now:

-Free Roam (unlikely given the short development time.)
-Character DLC to bring the rest of the ladies in (pretty much guaranteed).
-Rio is revealed at the last minute as a playable guest character, or is added via DLC later on.
-Jet Ski Racing (easily my favorite minigame in DOAX2, I'm really hoping it makes a comeback.)
-PS TV compatibility for the Vita version (should happen as long as the touch controls are optional)

Looks like they changed the prices a little, I'll have the updated prices in a minute. Here we go:
Prices  SPOILER: Show

PS4 Standard: 8,800 Yen (US $73.60)
PS4 Digital: 7,619 Yen (US $63.73)
PS4 CE: 13,800 Yen (US $115.42)

PS Vita Standard: 7,800 Yen (US $65.24)
PS Vita Digital: 6,762 Yen (US $56.56)
PS Vita CE: 12,800 Yen (US $107.06)

Strongest Package (contains both CEs with extras): 29,800 Yen (US $249.25) (Exclusive to Amazon Japan and Gamecity)

Collector's Edition and Strongest Package contents detailed here:

http://gematsu.com/2015/10/dead-alive-xtreme-3-first-ps4-footage-collectors-editions-detailed

I'll probably just buy both standard editions (assuming the Vita version is PS TV compatible and different enough from the PS4 version). Nothing in the CEs really interests me for those prices.

*Edit* Pre-orders are up on Amazon Japan! Looks like the prices changed again...?

http://www.amazon.co.jp/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_13?__mk_ja_JP=%E3%82%AB%E3%82%BF%E3%82%AB%E3%83%8A&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=dead+or+alive+xtreme+3&sprefix=dead+or+alive%2Caps%2C1481

PlayAsia is accepting pre-orders as well:

Asia will get an english release for Xtreme 3.

No reason to worry now for the localization since we can import the english asian version. PS4 and PSVITA are both region free.

I suggest everyone who wants to play the game in english and can't wait for an official west release to pre-order the asian version because asian versions with english options runs out of stock really fast and usually they are not restocking for some strange reason.

Nice. I wonder how this would affect the DLC, though. I already have a Japanese PSN account set up, so it would be easy for me to get the DLC for the Japanese version. But would the Japanese DLC work on the Asian English version or would I need to set up a new Asian PSN account? It seems like Japan would be considered a part of Asia, but you never know with this absurd region concept.

It could be the start of something beautiful. They updated the link with some new high-res screenshots. The last 2 were particularly interesting. Links below, NSFW.

Well fuck you too SJW brigade! Japan doesn't want to localize This game out of fear of hurting the gaming feminazi SJW community's feelings!

https://www.change.org/p/koei-tecmo-bring-dead-or-alive-xtreme-3-to-the-west

Sign this petition if you still want it localized. If nothing else I'm going to sign it, not because I want to play the game (I'm not really into games like this) but to stick it to everyone who wants to ruin Gaming for the rest of us and to scare us into saying what we can and can't enjoy.

People care about this game. They have been looking forward to it and yearned for the fun they will have when they get to play it. Now they won't, and the reason for it is because somebody else doesn't want them to. I cannot accept this. I won't live in a world where the comfort and happiness of a human being can be so effortlessly taken away from them by outside influences.

For the sake of our lives and our hometowns, we must resist. Please, help us bring joy back to our industry and to our hobby.
