Basically, Alan Moore is saying that people are choosing the comfort of Fantasy Universe, over seeking to actually understand our own. That's an understandable concern. . . though Moore himself comes off as a bit of a hypocrite in this interview.

Next thing is the massive amount of blackmail this'll generate -- they'll be asking for everything in Bitcoins.

So in short: assholes complaining that they are getting threatened with blackmail for behaving like assholes, by slightly less big assholes.

I say, release the list (how many big name people would be on it?).

A Google executive recently died while doing heroin during a tryst on a yacht that was arranged through a similar site, Seeking Arrangement.

It's a good thing people are bringing attention to these problems, but it seems incredibly irresponsible to deliberately endanger the lives of innocent drivers on a major highway to do it, and for a journalist to invite them to do so. I hope it doesn't end up obscuring the point.

I know of one exec of a software company who had an operation to replace his pacemaker with an older model after discovering that it was hackable.

I know it sounds kind of dangerous, but Andy was at the hacker conference that we (including Valasek) run and I think it may have been hollywooded up a little in the article to emphasize how dangerous something like this can be. Don't know for sure, since the article wasn't published until after the conference.

The pacemaker thing was a Barnaby Jack gem (R.I.P.), with a great live demo at a conference in Melbourne.

Drag queen acts banned from pride parade events in fear of offending transgendered people

It's amazing because I don't really know who is more offended in this situation

Studies find that men who harass women online are literally losers

I just noticed that the header pic for this has the forever alone guy on there (le fanny 9gag maymay, IOW)

Just gonna copy this comment I found on the article.

Journalist misreads study, writes stupid article.

"The number of negative statements uttered by the focal player was positively correlated with the number of times they died (top) with female-voiced teammates generally receiving more negative statements until approximately 15 deaths, after which male-voiced teammate received more negative statements. In contrast, focal players made more negative statements towards female-voiced teammates and decreased the number of negative comments the better they performed (i.e. with a greater number of kills; bottom)."

E.G. Better players get positive comments, worse players get yelled at. Congrats they just proved what every gamer has known since PONG.
Here lies Squigsquasher.

I knew SciAm had deteriorated since the days when the expected lay reader was one whose PhD was only in a related subject, but not that it was so behind the curve.

Try these instead
