Oh my God.

Seriously, things like this are make people think Anime fans are weirdos. The SJW's are going have a field day with this.
I’ll escape now from this world, from the world of Jean Valjean, Jean Valjean is nothing now! Another story must begin!

Just your run of the mill fap fodder for this season.

It seems really stupid, but at this point I'm kind of used to that.

Any news on the Digimon anime? It's been a while.

I remember hearing about subtitle glasses for musicals (think I posted about that in the Sailor Moon general thread). Will be an awesome experience for foreign fans that visit for sure!

No, its really not that weird, I see like 5 sex scenes per western movies/tv shows that considered "normal", not sure why things like a few panty shots suddenly make Anime any more perverted than any other medium.

What about four very well endowed girls wearing 'armor' that is nothing more than microkinis?

(I wish someone would once make a series where the gory results of such armor in a realistic setting are shown, graphically and boner-killing...)

Anime wasn't always for perverts. But now it is made primarily for perverts. Now you don't have to be a pervert to like anime but once you accept that the medium & industry at large caters to pervert prurient interests you'll be happier in general.

I think the fact that anime is the only medium I know of where "fan service" is a commonly accepted term kind've underlines this point. It doesn't even matter what the context of getting skin is - unless it's a fringe show you can be that almost always that skin is going to be female & also almost always underage - if there's lady flesh on screen it's viewed as a positive. Your main female character getting raped by someone she thought was a friend? Throw in a shot drawn on 1's of her ass shaking about or her tits flopping around in their own close up & suddenly the fans are saying "It's just fan service".

Being a fan of something - in this case anime - doesn't mean you should just accept every thing made in that medium without thought. Being a fan means you should engage in a conversation with the works made & distinguish between the bad & the good. I'm kinda thinking a show called "Bikini Warriors" is not going to be one of the good ones & it sure as hell is going to have more than a "few panty shots".

Join me kids, Gendo'sPapa going to talk about the good old days, when most anime was endless mecha shows and kids stuff, sprinkled by the occasional good anime like Yamato or The Rose of Versailles.

You're talking about the 70' right? Because even the 80' had tons of that fanservice you dislike.

---

I'll be honest, fanservice stopped bothering me a long time ago. That said, if you think it is holding anime back or something...er...Row Row Fight the Powah!

Then I'll alter my original statement. Anime was ALWAYS made for perverts.
Also, I never said anime was any better "back then in the good old days". It's probably just as good now as it was decades ago. Like any medium the only works that stick around in the public mindset are the good ones & the lesser works fade from memory. I simply said anime has embraced it's perversity. It's ridiculous for the fans to pretend otherwise.

Thank you for you illuminating insight into the discussion.

Who cares? It's a shitty lowest-common-denominator show. You get this schlock in every medium ever. Same reason the book market is flooded with dreadful "erotic" novels you've probably never heard of (Taken by the T-Rex anybody?). Same thing with vidya, except in the west it's HURR MUH TACTICOOL BROWN AND GREY SHOOTAN as opposed to fanservice.

Claymore actually does that pretty well. The almost-entirely female cast wears armor which basically consists of a skintight leotard and some shoulder pads, which leads to them getting dismembered, disemboweled and occasionally decapitated very, very often. I think it's also implied that the reason they wear those outfits rather than proper armor is because normal armor is pretty useless against the monsters they fight, so they might as well wear something that gives them greater mobility.

Taken...by the T-Rex? I laughed, I cried. Then I googled.

And found this page with glorious reviews  :

Most people already think you watch porn or stupid cartoons. Stuff like Monster Musume seem more US marketable anyway (#1 best selling manga for most volumes).
SJW's moan about anything though and Japan won't do anything.

The music seems familiar.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

We have a new contestant for the ugliest official Sailor Moon art in history.

Wonky Moon should seriously consider fixing her face and those of her friends with her magical powers.
