It wasn't that you didn't like it, your reason was just hard to comprehend (liking QUALITY riddled Seed but complaining about MSG's art). No one had a problem with Reichu's opinion so I don't understand your post. If you can't handle someone challenging your points it might be better to stay out of the controversial thread.

You're free to express your opinions in the gundam thread, those 'vicious reactions' are just arguments that are contrary to your stance, the gundam thread isn't a safe space, and neither is this thread, that's for sure.

I could never get into any of the gundam series, the closest I ever got was with Gundam wing and G-Gundam. I havent watched all of them but of the ones I have seen those are the only ones I could sort of get into.

I could never get into Gundam or Macross. Though I hoped the beautiful looks of G Reco could me help overcome my problems with Gundam alt least. Didn't happen. Turn A Gundam seems pretty interesting, but the first Episode didn't have me on my toes either.
I hope Macross Delta will be my gateway into the franchise; I would love a Macross that doesn't have grating music.

Grating music? Were we watching the same series?

Ok, controversial opinion time.
I don't like Macross Frontier. At all. My main problem with it is, that so many important moments build on music I really, really don't like. And that's a problem for me, because I personally value music a great deal, and if I hate the music that's being played, I have trouble connecting with what's going on and many major elements fall flat. Additionally I hate the main trio composed of a selfish, ugly hag, a stupid, ugly little girl and a mopey, stupid teen. So yeah, I loathe the characters and the songs that come out of their mouths.
I really liked the overall visual design and the plot.

Controversial opinion:

I kind've don't like Pen-Pen. I love penguins but nothing is more out of that place in that universe as the story goes on then that newspaper reading, beer drinking mascot. Really hoping he continues to stay out of sight in Final.

Also, any good recent anime recommendations? Controversial Opinion: Don't recommend anything over 24 episodes. Sailor Moon aside, all the long running anime shows are mostly garbage. Even the good ones are ultimately mostly garbage & since I'm cursed with being a completist I'd rather not watch 1 great season of a show & then have to suffer through six awful ones just because of my brain sickness.

So, no Nadia, no Honey and Clover, no FMA (either form), no Utena, no Monster...

I mean, I see your point, but there are plenty of exceptions.

As for recommendations (wrong thread, though), what do you mean by recent? I like recommending Uchouten Kazoku (The Eccentric Family).

Like past two or three years.

Probably should have made a note that for longer series I meant those ones that go on for hundreds of episodes. Though my life is pretty busy right now so things over 24 episodes is pushing it for carefree watches.

Well, I'm with you there on length. But it's more that I want a story with a conclusion, not just some sort of soap that goes on and on being extended for ever (though I admit that my fondness for the -monogatari series goes somewhat against that - but even that is expected to come to a conclusion in due course).

So, I guess my recommendation stands; also Kill la Kill fits as well (if you've managed not to see it already!). Beyond that I'm not one to suggest things, as I tend to wait for things to become a little more classic before watching them.

I think I read somewhere that Pen Pen was Sadamoto's idea back in the early stages on NGE. He felt it would make the series more light-hearted. Anno, on the other hand, kept forgetting that Pen Pen even existed.

As for anime recommendation, I thought the standard for anime length was 26 episodes. Anyway, tuning at about 13 episodes is Angel Beats. It's... Okay. I could never really get into a lot of Key Animation's shows like Clannad or anything like that, but Angel Beats is a decent enough show with pretty animation, beautiful music, an interesting concept about the afterlife, and some neat little character arcs all wrapped up in only 13 or so episodes.

As for my controversial anime opinion, I absolutely hated Clannad. Just flat out hated it. Hated it so much, I dropped it after season 1. I just couldn't stand it. The female characters seem to follow this trend where they are only interesting characters because the lead male protagonist allows them or deems them to be, not because the filmmakers believe that the female characters believe they're interesting or have merit on their own. The whole droopy sad-eye girl gimmick, whether visually or narratively, just got way too old way too fast. I found it boring and tedious, and just wanted it to end. So I dropped it after season 1. It's not that I find slice-of-life boring or anything, its just that the way the narrative and characters were handled bothered me to no end. If you are somehow able to manage that "OMG ALL OF THE FEALZ" emotion while watching it, that's fine, I guess. I just couldn't stand it.

The Legend of Black Heaven (music anime) is one of the greatest anime of all time mostly for its serious aspects. It has shitty graphics, a ridiculous amount of comic relief, the conflict is way over the top and not much of it technically makes much sense. And you know what? I wouldn't change a damn thing about it if I could (except maybe it would be pretty awesome to see it with good graphics)

Ooh, I thought I was the only person prepared to defend Angel Beats! OK, it's not great, but a decent show doesn't have to be great every time.

This is controversial? I mean I know a lot of people who love Clannad, but even they have trouble talking about (or remembering!) season 1.

Angel Beats has really good comedy, and every time it tries to be serious, it gets so over the top it's funny as well. The narrative was a cluster fuck, though. And the concept has been done a million times better in Haibane Renmei (altough I admit, that Angel Beats has the better animation).

How is Yoko Kanno's work in any way grating? I mean, she covers every genre imaginable (save perhaps for country) and delivers a bunch of solid rock pieces for Frontier. If you don't like the show you don't, but calling out the music specifically strikes me as all manner of bizarre.

I put it on hold halfway through season 1 because the first arc put me through the emotional wringer. And, honestly, after finishing up Your Lie in April I don't think I'll be revisiting it any time soon; I've had enough of interesting female characters being relegated to plot devices for the foreseeable future (seriously, I would watch the fuck out of a Kaori-centric version of Your Lie in April. She was more interesting, and more fun to watch, than the whole rest of the cast put together, and Kousei was just an interminable bore. Great music, though).

What? Really? Surely you must have misspoke. NGE puts you through the emotional wringer. Clannad is First world problems: the anime.

I don't think a dead girl trying desperately not to be completely forgotten by everyone she ever knew (and failing) is first world problems at all. I think it's about the worst fate I can imagine, and that the cast of NGE got off lightly by comparison.

I can never understand why people think Eva is so gruelling, honestly. Nothing that happens is permanent, so what the hell? It's rough the first time through, yes, but once you know what's going on it's plain ol' character development and not all that terrible at all. By contrast, genuine loss -- loss that doesn't come with a reset button -- is much more tragic and harrowing.
