Thanks for the info!

You're welcome! Yeah, I like the book, but I wish there had been more pages. I especially would have enjoyed more pictures of the life-size Kaworu, plus a lot more of the Eva Museum and the Studio Galleries.

AR-99 wrote:I was there in later October. And I admit, the display of Eva food I as soon as I walked in from the Eva World side (Halloween was coming up) distracted me.

Ooh, Evangelion-themed sweets? I totally would have been distracted by that, too! :D Yes, since you've actually been to Evangelion: World, the book would make a nice souvenir for you. I hope you'll be able to get it someday! ^_^

Ah yes, the manga about playing video games. I hope it's good! Dark Horse did an English release of Neon Genesis Evangelion: Comic Tribute in 2013, so hopefully they'll release this one in English as well.

They also translated The Shinji Ikari Detective Diary, which I can't recommend.

Yes, I was quite disappointed with The Shinji Ikari Detective Diary. There were a few moments that I liked, but the art style didn't appeal to me very much, and the ending was an absolute mess. I'm glad to have another continuity where Kaworu survives, but other than that... yeah, a mess. Still not as bad as The Shinji Ikari Raising Project, though.

Luckily for me, I won't be reviewing manga that are already available in English, so I'll be able to avoid the torture of writing about those. ;)

Start with Piko Piko and Petit EVA

And yeah, I don't understand how SIRP gets worse and worse after volume 6, a real mistery for me

I haven't checked out Piko Piko yet, but I love Petit Eva! I met the artist, Ryusuke Hamamoto (AKA Ryumoto), in 2013. He did two autographed sketches for me! :D

^Very cool, met him in 2011 and got an Asuka and a Mari. Could have seen him again later that year at Kintoki-Con (which has since gone defunct) but it slipped my mind somehow.

:kampai: Actually Kintoki was supposed to return last year with Ryumoto as their first guest...But then the whole thing fell through. The con didn't hielp itself by only being held in 2011 and 2013 and supposedly to return this year, but the domain is dead. Hard to build up consistent attendance that way.

OLD POST

I posted my thirteenth book review today! This time, it's Shin Seiki Evangelion Settei Shiryoushuu, a collection of black-and-white pre-production sketches for the TV series. Enjoy! ^_^

NEW POST

I posted my fourteenth book review today! It is Shin Seiki Evangelion Settei Shiryoushuu For "Eva" Maniacs. This book picks up where the previous one left off, with more black-and-white pre-production sketches for the TV series.

My next book review will be All About Nagisa Kaworu: A Child of the Evangelion, for robersora. I also have good news for Jäeger... I was finally able to clear enough space to keep all my Evangelion books in the same place, so I'll be getting my Evangelion video game books out of storage soon and will be able to start reviewing a couple of those. Thanks for your patience!

And finally, it's time for a little numerical update. When I first posted this thread, I said that I have over 87 books to review. Well, I've been buying a few more Evangelion books here and there, so the updated total is now... over 95 books! (This is not including Eva manga series that are already available in English, because I won't be reviewing those. I don't even want to think about how big the actual total would be if I included all those manga volumes, heh.) Anyway, 14 reviews are done, so that means at least 81 left to go! Thanks for your questions, comments, and feedback so far, everyone! Evangelion books are my passion, so I'm having a lot of fun discussing them with you all. :yippee:

You are awesome! And it's even better if these reviews make you happy as well! :) Looking forward to the Kaworu book!

I posted my fifteenth book review today! This time, it's All About Kaworu Nagisa: A Child of the Evangelion, because robersora requested a Kaworu book. This nifty book collects pictures of Kaworu from a few different continuities, plus it also has interviews, parody comics, and other fun stuff. Oh, and did I mention that Kunihiko Ikuhara (of Revolutionary Girl Utena fame), Chiaki Kuriyama (actress from Battle Royale and Kill Bill), and Japanese rock musicians are also involved? Enjoy! :D

And for my next review, I will be doing one of the Evangelion video game books that Jäeger requested. Thanks for your continued support, everyone!

Great review! I noticed you mentioned Entry File 1, and to this day I'm bummed out Entry Files 2 and 3 never saw the light of day. :(

Sailor Star Dust: Thanks! Yeah, I was also disappointed that there weren't other Entry File books. What, they didn't want our money anymore? -o-;

robersora: You're very welcome! I will be reviewing other books in the future with some interesting Kaworu content, so I hope you'll enjoy those as well!*

AR-99: Yes, that section was... uh... quite memorable.

*And of course, I'll be reviewing books that feature other Evangelion characters, too (I love 'em all), so stay tuned! :asukahearts:

^Yep, I've seen that movie. Hmm... well, Kaworu being associated with decapitation imagery (or strangulation imagery in the Sadamoto manga) is nothing new, so his comments about his neck weren't necessarily foreshadowing... or were they?
