Scenes that make you happy

Over the years, there have been many threads about Evangelion and depression
and whether or not it does make the viewer depressed or sad.

So in order to bring some light into this dark franchise.
I ask you: What scenes from the various movies / tv show
that make you happy? Now I am not talking about Haha funny, silly scenes
but rather scenes that give you that warm
fuzzy feeling - you know the one.

For me the parts where Shinji interacts with his mother
that gives me that warm fuzziness I was talking about.
They make me think about my mother (and my own childhood)
and in all honestly put me in piece of mind while giving me contentment for my
life and gets me to smile too! ^_^

Episode 9 “training” montage. It makes me the happiest of all of the scenes.

The ending of episode 07 ''A human work'', when Shinji is told by Toji and Kensuke that Misato considers him family. His serene smile, mixed with the ''When I find peace of mind'' BGM, easily makes this my most feel good Evangelion moment. =)

The moment, when Asuka died.

Pretty much all the scenes with Kaworu soothe my mood; as well as FFF4e mentioned, the training montage (I guess this scene might be a favourite for some).
Might not be NGE, but I also find the eating sequence in the water-regeneration facility in 2.22 to be very uplifting as well.

This. That entire episode in general is a lot of fun, and probably my favorite among the action arc episodes.

Can we include the Manga? Don't worry it isn't that far off from what Dataprime said.

This is in both EOE and vol13/14 of the manga, but is explored much deeper in the manga.

When Shinji is in Third Impact and reliving his last child hood moments with Yui, and he finally remembers what the last thing she said to him was. That for some odd reason makes me tear just a tad. Also the scene in the manga after Shinji gets absorbed into Unit-01 and when he sees the actual Yui, and she says something along the lines of "It's okay I will still be here." or something like that.

Generally any scene with Shinji and Yui, because they are pretty full of feels.

Umm, Non Yui/Shinji would have to be in the manga when Shinji saves Asuka before he gets turned into the trigger, with the moment they smile at eachother. Makes you think Sadamanga wasn't a Rei/Shinji ship.

The moment, when Asuka died.

That little bitch got what she deserved.

That would be Bennett the Sage's. That asshole.

Shin-chan's smile in episode 26 (and the symbolism behind it)....Something EoE took away.

A lot of scenes showing interaction between Shinji and Asuka are getting me all the time, may it be in the TV series, the new movies or the manga. At least the ones, where Asuka's not too mad at Shinji, and unfortunately, those become rare as the story goes on. With that in mind, episode 9 also ranks among my favorites, just like major parts from 2.22, as well as volume 4 of the manga.

Actually, in preparation for volume 14 being released in Germany, I started re-reading the manga a few weeks ago (for the second time only, ever since I got it) and, of course, came across a few lovely scenes involving my favorite couple, the following being just one example out of many more:

"Is that supposed to be funny?" - Kyon

I guess the scene when Rei smiles.

And what Rei IV said:

^ Yes! Was surprised that nobody mentioned the ending of 6...
I also love the Reishin [s:2qnfg6s2]sex[/s:2qnfg6s2] scene in EoE. I love how gentle she is with Shinji, like how his head lies on her knees (if I remember correctly).
Kaji helping drunk Misato walk. This scene was really sweet in a strange way, I love it.
A lot of manga scenes stand out to me - like the scene were Misato shows Shinji the rising buildings and gently praises him for protecting the city, the scene after Ramiel with the comment on how by being together, people can find something wortwhile, like the moon in the sky (writing from memory, so it's not an exact quote). The various stages of holding hands, Shinji helping Rei with tea... I could probably mention most of Rei and Shinji scenes from manga, but I will stop here.
Lost Asuka searching for her mother in the sunflower field legitimately made me cry.
Thanks to this thread, I think I'm gonna reread all my volumes of the Sadamoto Eva...
I just love it so much - even though the TV series is 'the real thing' and genius brainchild of the one and only Hideaki Anno.

Definitely this. Episode 9 is probably the most light hearted episode in the whole series. Just makes you feel good. I also really like the scene just before the montage where Asuka's talking about reclaiming her pride and Shinji smiles at her, realizing that she's not all bad.

Actually any scene where Shinji smiles makes me feel good.

The biggest one for me is the scene after the Ramiel battle where Rei smiles at Shinji. She does it so sweetly that I can never resist smiling back at her.

I also love all the scenes with Kensuke in episode 4 (I think it's 4, the one where Shinji runs away from home for the first time). Kensuke's just out there in the middle of the tall grass geeking out, not a care in the world, no pressure to look cool or normal in front of the other kids. Then he sees Shinji walking down the road and invites him into his tent, and the two of them have a very honest and genuine conversation with each other. It was awesome seeing what Kensuke was really like when he had no pressure on him, a side of him we rarely see.

The whole Gaghiel battle was hilarious, both inside the entry plug and on the bridge of the Over the Rainbow. And of course there's that scene afterwards when Shinji goes down the escalator wearing Asuka's plug suit and everybody whistles.

Gonna have to go with the Rei smile like a lot of other people.........from rebuild.
Yes call me a fangirl of the rebuild movies or whatever but when Rei smiled in NGE it just felt unnatural and.......fake.
im not saying Rei felt nothing because she obviously did but it felt more like she was smiling solely because Shinji asked her too rather than because she felt somewhat happy at the time which works for NGE because NGE Rei and NTE Rei have different character arcs so that reflects it well.

Also when Shinji killed kaworu in NGE i think kaworus death was done well in both NTE and NGE but NGE wins out by just a bit for that long pause before Shinji kills him in NGE, if you are asking me why this makes me happy its because i was happy at how well that scene was handled knowing the budget issues they had.

Episode 6 suffered from being well off-model. Smile scene Rei is justifiably characterised as looking like a muppet; for all that was in itself a happy scene (at least until the outcome it promised just evaporated).

I dunno. Death and Rebirth did Rei's smile a lot more justice than the anime and theatrical movies.

Truth be told - every scene in NGE, EOE & the Rebuilds make me happy.

I get off on works that can pull forth emotions in me & Eva does that with every moment it has. The sad moments make me happy. The "oh my god I can't believe how terrible for Character X this is" moments make me happy. The upbeat cheerful moments make me happy.

So much stuff out there is just there. You watch it & it just passes right by you - I know I saw 'The Imitation Game' last week but I could not tell you a thing about it beyond superficial details like who starred in it & what not.

So yeah, my cliche answer is everything in the (Anno involved) Evangelion universe makes me happy.

I'll join the Rei smile bandwagon ; after EoE and Q, it's still what touched me the most and left me wondering days after I first watched it. I still don't know if it was genuine, actually

Even in the darkest, most tragic moments of human error and desperation there is still a clear veiw of Asuka's titties.

The "I'm So Fucked Up" scene does make me happy.

1. Because a filmmaker has the balls to open their film with an announcement that pronounced & definitive. With one scene you know exactly what "End of Evangelion" is going to be! It's not going to be a fan-friendly, going for the easy win type experience. It's gonna be aggressive, confrontational, risky & focused. The kind of films I love.

2. Narrative aside, based on the amount of gross fan art that exists, the fact that a filmmaker is holding up a mirror to certain members of the audience & saying "You think this is okay?", is INCREDIBLE!

Man, do I love 'End of Evangelion'!
