It's good that it takes it's own direction. Since the Manga mostly stars people of European decent, it would look odd if they would have cast only Japanese people. They tried and failed with the Thermae Romae adaptation. Moreover the very Shonen-esque story-progression wouldn't have worked in live action either.
And lastly, there's no interest in seeing the same rehashed story again (which isn't finished yet).

I have trust in the staff, although the script writer did only shit up until now.

It's like going to a Uwe Boll movie hoping that it won't be shitty. :tongue:

Like this has ever stopped any adaptation ever, went to see big hero six and they are technically all supposed to be Japanese but it still managed to work.

Well, I still think it's a good idea to shift the setting and characters towards Japan, when there's only Japanese people as cast.

That makes me happy. I'm looking forward to seeing another chunk of the manga turned into animu.

This is good news except for the fact that we have to wait until 2016. At least there are two more OVAs in coming months.

Yeah, can't believe they're gonna make us wait that long. I wouldn't be surprised if the hype for the show dies out by then

The fact that you're saying this on an Evangelion form is so unbelievably ironic.

So the concept of Mikasa being the only Asian left in the world is gone.

You got me there -o-;

In my defense, Eva is a cult classic. It's not like there's a whole lot to pick apart and re-watch in Attack on Titan.

Well, until the second season starts, there's a second compilation movie coming as well as a two part life action outing all the while the Manga is still continuing. Since Attack on Titan is such a massive hit, I don't expect the hype to die down completely in just two years.

Well, the Manga-ka strives to let it end around 20 tankobons. I hope he stays true to that plan.

Oh, absolutely. Evangelion runs on a lot of different levels-- and while I'm sure SnK could be picked apart if one worked at it long enough, I agree that it doesn't necessarily share the same visual or narrative complexity of Eva.

I'd have to disagree there. The characters' relationships with one another is at least, if not more, complex than the character's relationships to one another in Evangelion. Sure, Evangelion is more complicated from a thematic, symbolic, and philosophical level, but Attack on Titan's characters have so many subtle interactions with one another, remarks here and there, and otherwise seemingly minor actions that shed a whole new light on the dynamic these characters have with one another. And Eva's narrative itself is about as complex as Attack on Titans, especially with all the recent manga volumes.

Considering that I've only watched the anime, if the manga gets more complex, I wouldn't know about it. -o-;

The version I watched had people screaming at each other 90% of the time.
