Oh. Regardless my question still stands because I know for sure Mari's new glasses were revealed in the 2012 calender first, along with the Kaworu/Spear connection.

Asuka's taped up plug suit and her own spear were both revealed on the June 2011 Newtype cover:

Mari's new glasses were the only thing out of all the calendars released that was relevant to the movies before a movie was out. You probably shouldn't get your hopes up for getting some super amazing reveal in the newest calendar.

Notes that the Kaworu/Spear connection already existed in 2.0 proper: he's the one that stopped EVA-01 with the LoC after all.

I don't think we've ever gotten a direct confirmation that it is the spear of Cassius, although it's generally assumed by the fandom.

The 2.0 CRC confirmed that the spear that Kaworu used to stop EVA-01 was the Spear of Cassius, and every figures and having this spear had it labeled Spear of Cassius, so I think that we can safely say that yes, it's indeed the Spear of Cassius that Kaworu used.

I don't actually remember the CRC ever mentioning the Cassius spear.

However the merchandising does support that being the name. Everything form jewelry to pachinko games and various figures.

The KawoShin picture in question is not a Photoshop. It's from the book Shin Seiki Evangelion Online CG Hokan Keikaku. (I have way too many Evangelion books... just kidding, there's no such thing as having too much Evangelion stuff!

Can you post photos of the book and specifically the publishing info and the actual printed pic and whatever attached comments/description?

The book is mostly contributions from fan artists/doujinshi artists, yes. But it was approved by Gainax and they even provided the cover art, so it's one of those "official" but not canon type of publications. I can try showing a bit more tonight, if someone hasn't beaten me to it by then. (I'm leaving for work in 15 minutes... yes, I work on Sundays. Bleah.)

@Hui: I don't know about you, but I'm actually interested to see if Anno decides to go anywhere with Midori. And even if he doesn't, seeing her in some more fanart would be nice-- we've got so little material with her in it that there's not much to say about her.
