I'm late to the party, just finished the series. I thought it was pretty good. I give it 7/10. By the end the Elite 4/Mako were my favorite characters.
For me, the ranking is:

FLCL
Diebuster
KlK
TTGL
Dead Leaves
I haven't seen Diebuster or Dead Leaves yet but of the 3 listed that I've seen I rank them:
1) TTGL
2) KLK
3) FLCL
It's Ok if you hate me, I hate me too.

Don't give me that! You know that it is true.

Also, Imashi's anime is fast paced, weird and frantic for my tastes but sometimes I feel as though that there is some deeper meaning to the madness. I might be overthinking it.

True-er words have never been spoken.
I mean, predictability is the central attraction and the narrative hook that we've all come to expect from the Evangelion franchise. How come Anno can't realize this? Twice? - FreakyFilmFan4ever

Where's the KlK making of from the last BD? Is that a thing? Or did they cancel it or something? I remember there was supposed to be one.

And to the people complaining about KlK...
Well, you have to respect opinions and stuff.

There are three parts of the making-of that are included with the third, seventh, and ninth volume.

Three parts?!
:klkmako:

I'm really interested in the other two, because in the first one they can't really talk about too much, because spoilers.
Well, I'll look for them.

EDIT:
Have to wait till february. :sniffle:
And then april for part 3.

At least I know the dates now.
The making of is in volumes 2, 4 and 5 of the USA version.

I decided I would take a look at the BDs of KLK just to see how much they were, if I wanted to get them for myself during the holiday season or something. They're... expensive. Really expensive. $40 for a BD with five episodes is lunacy. I think I'll be waiting for the price to drop or for a less expensive compilation to be released before I think about buying these.

Have any Evageeks bought the discs?

... is it a good time to say that here in France we have two Blu Ray box with each half the series for 49.99€ each?
That's still fucking expensive.

There's also the big double box Collector edition with the two aforementioned boxes and a 196 pages sketch box and two Goku Uniform pins, all for 119.95€.

It's certainly still expensive, but that's a lot more manageable than what's being promoted on the website. Ideally, they'll make a thinpak of it (and they tend to be cheaper than the multi-disk, multi-package releases) and I'll be able to pick that up. In the meantime, I guess, there's always Crunchyroll. And nyaa.

Just for your information, Aniplex doesn't drop their prices. Good luck finding a second-hand maybe.

Many animators, mangaka etc. essentially doodle on their own time and post their creations on twitter in particular. Looking at profile and Saito's recently uploaded pictures I'd say that's most likely just hobby drawing. On same day he also posted Idolmaster characters among others.
