Well, the nonchalant way you joked about CJD's departure rubbed me the wrong way since it came off like you didn't really care about his departure or the reasons behind them. Wouldn't know if that's true but i still apologize for having been so rude in that previous post.

I was actually planning a much smaller version of this post a couple months before coming back here again by accident, but what really got my panties in a twist is this kinda tribal attitude the forum has towards all the people who say they're leaving... I don't care, this is perfectly normal, we're not here to entertain you, etc. If the current state of things was a result of staff and members looking at the forum or themselves and this being the direction they wanted to take then that's just how it is (and i'm sure some members did just that) but by and large it just looks like EGF doesn't give a shit about how it's perceived and is pretty content to let things decay to wherever they end up at. If that is perfectly normal then all the more reason to jump ship.

Plus, aside from the current forum having a hell of a bloat/spam problem, there's a lot of poison coming from some members here and a sort of tribalist/combative attitude that really kills things here for me. I don't really get why some of you hold this perception that we're just bored and demand entertainment... I'm not bored, i'm sad and frustrated that a place which used to mean so much to me has decayed to a point where little more than banality and/or poison are what you get out of reading the threads. To tell you the truth i didn't plan or desire to go into much detail (within the open forum at least) in my departure post aside from the personal cirscumtances because i far preferred to silently step off like i did back in march, in no small part because i knew that the replies were going to lean more towards combat than a constructive discussion, but i guess the recent posts in this thread got me a little too impulsive. Sorry about that.

Finally, to clear one last thing up i don't really believe people are necessarily wrong for liking this place. It's certainly not for me and i think the forum culture has a lot of very serious issues that need taking care of, but Bagheera and Gob made a better job of summarizing the good aspects of this place than i ever could. Oh, and Rose, none of the issues i take with the place have to do with your posts and i'm sure no one has any issue with your activity either. You're not doing anything wrong at all.

Though I guess I shouldn’t paint that in such black & white terms. After all I was a part of the ever-so-fun “Film Fag” clique that was on around here. (It was a terribly inappropriate name if one wasn’t in on the original joke.) I think there was even a fanfic being written about us by someone who used to (and still might, I forget) frequent here. Then I just got so busy with actual video and film projects that I decided to just do my own thing apart from that.
