Well here are some bad/good news about FFXV. It's an interview with the new director of FFXV. He addresses and answers some questions about the game that fans had. Read the full Q&A article for all the details but here are a few major ones:

So I've been thinking of writing a letter to Yoshi-P or emailing him, some way of getting his attention.

Dear Yoshi-P,

Enclosed is an image of my character's inventory. As you can see he has every Wave weapon from Leviathan Extreme except for the Harpoon which is ridiculous since my character only plays as a Dragoon please do one of the following:
A. Send me an in game letter containing the Wave Harpoon for all my effort in tackling my favorite boss yet consistently given the middle finger.
B. Mail me IRL a free (Medium) "I Beat Leviathan" T-shirt since your conventions are never in Florida and I don't have the money to fly around the country just to win a stupid shirt for a boss I beat three times a night four days a week (None of which drops that damn Wave Harpoon).

Failure to do either (or both if you're feeling generous) will result in me flying over to Japan and make you "Drink deep of the Sea's bitter drought!"

Call me out-of-the-loop, but I really, really haven't paid attention to anything out of FF14 since it began and it was massively derided. Did it get like completely better and is now awesome with Realm Reborn?

I never played the original FF14 myself, only A Realm Reborn but from what I understand A Realm Reborn is a massive improvement over the original game. At current it sits at around 2.5 million subscribers which is leaps and bounds over what the original game had at it's peak and is way beyond what SE expected.

What I can say though is A Realm Reborn is fantastic. It's one of only a few MMO's that have been able hold my interest.

Doctor Memory played the original so he would know way more on the differences between the two.

The original 1.0 was a massive failure, but as soon as Yoshi-P came in and released patches, it supposedly got much better and better. It's hard to find a legacy player these days that didn't like Post Patch 1.23b FFXIV. That being said, 1.23b still suffered from the fact that it was built off 1.0 which still had a lot of problems which basically resulted in ARR to completely overhaul everything. I can't give you an honest opinion over 1.0 since I never played it and only talked with people who played it, but as much as they fondly remember 1.23b, they still claim ARR was a major improvement in every department.

Well so far Rogue is a lot of fun. Power leveled to 25 in less than a day. A new record for me by far. (Did 1-10 when the patch went live, slept, then did the last 15 this afternoon)

Sadly, no dungeon experience with the class yet as the Duty Finder is full of people trying to level... you guessed it, Rogue... so way too many DPS and not nearly enough Healers or Tanks to go around.

The new Ironworks gear looks fantastic and I can't wait to start buying some pieces and of course, gearing up even further as a result.

Have yet to try any of the new content yet. I doubt I will get to any of it until after my leveling frenzy Sadly, Final Coil is not included since I'm still stuck on Turn 5 of the first Binding Coil. (Really have not been putting any time into trying to get past it at all.)

I wish I was still at this point, Turn 9 is like a giant penis slapping me across the face telling me I suck, and Lord knows I've wiped my fair share in T6-8.

It's just getting with a group that everyone is on the same page. I've only ever gotten to when Twintania starts diving and the snakes spawn, usually mass confusion starts and a wipe takes place, then rage quitting, etc.

Our FC is too small to have a static, at current only 4 of us can do Coil, (Myself and Agentomega being the most experienced at it.) and there are 5 of us that play regularly. We are however, building to T5 with the other two and making connections in game that hopefully will yield us with a good group of people to run it with us. While I can trust the skills of my fellow FC members and friends, I can't really trust a random person from the DF. Seen too many highly geared people do really dumb stuff to trust them.

Dive bombs are the first major mechanic that usually wipes players in T5, the next major mechanic would be Twisters which wont be a problem if you all Focus Target Twintania. But yeah, most people seem to not understand how to handle Dive bombs which shows they're really gonna hate T9 because Dive bombs come back (in the middle of three other mechanics you have to worry about).

And I NEVER DF anything other than my dailies or stuff like my Animus book. Me and my FC always PF any PUG's we might need. I really wish the US population was more like the Japanese population, they PF for progression/experience gathering groups and when they mastered it, they use the DF. Here it's all backwards.

I've gotten the same way, unless it's something I need now and no one is around to help with it or it's just dailies I stay out of the DF. While I have had some great luck with it, (First attempt at Levi EX was DF and it was a kill, but Levi EX is not hard really) it's mostly bad experiences. I have read that about the Japanese servers and frankly I'd prefer it if it was that way. It'd be much easier to get a good group to train with via PF and then use the DF only for actually getting down to business, but you are right, it's totally backwards on the US/EU servers.

Yikes, T9 sounds like a nightmare. I'd pull up a video of the fight, but I don't want to spoil myself when I'm not even in 2nd Coil yet The time for that will come when I'm actually ready to prepare for the fight.

Just one dungeon run away at current from 45 Ninja. Loving this class. Already I've defeated two bosses in two separate dungeons single handed after the rest of the party wiped although, one of those was a for fun run of Sastasha as an FC as only Ninja's and one Rogue It's like Monk without the positioning needed for attacks and decent ranged skills makes it easy to kite enemies. With my primary two classes being Bard and Monk, I've really taken well with Ninja.

I'd love to head back to Eorzea someday, but Nursing has taken up so much of my time.

I've just started being a Rogue, and the only level 50 job I have is Paladin, which I'm great at. I've even got the Curtana finally and am a BOSS in dungeons.

Still, I'd like to level up my other classes, but I'm running out of room for my armor and weapons. My retainers can only hold so much. I'm hoping to get a private room at my company soon.

Personally though, I'm looking forward to the next expansion though. Dark Knight looks great as a Tank, but I am a little disappointed. I was hoping they would release or at least give a hint about Samurai as a future job. I NEED to get my Katana on.

The only class I have at 50 is DRG and even then I learned pretty quickly I am terrible at it (I'm as low as 150 DPS in Turn 6). I don't know where to go to get a good parser though. I was in the process of leveling BRD but now that Rogue/Ninja came out, I might as well not even bother with the DF queue times the way that they are.

Ahhh a fellow Paladin! I'm a 50 Paladin myself. I just recently bought a Weathered Burtgang after deciding to focus on putting everything into my Mains primary class (Bard) I do have Curtana though and I love it, such an awesome sword. Paladin and White Mage are my secondary classes on my Main. I by no means the best at either of the two, but I do pretty well. I've really taken a shine to tanking though and picked it up pretty fast.

I'm sitting at 45 Ninja on my alt at current. Just have not felt like, or really have had the time to get to 50. For my Alt monk is his primary with Black Mage and ninja as secondary classes.

Nice. It's much cheaper to get a private room than buy your own house. I have one for my main and got it nicely decorated. I'm really excited for Dark Knight myself. I'm hoping we hear more about the other new jobs in the expansion at the Japanese FanFest. Samurai seems like a given considering the folder that was seen at the NA FanFest, but you never know.

The DF queue is not as bad as it was at first, but it's still pretty bad. We've been running dungeons as FC group for our Atma books and such, just to bypass the wait times, but ~40 mins as DPS seems to be the norm right now.

I have no idea what my DPS is as any of my classes. I've been curious but just haven't really looked into a parser. I've mostly gone with how fast I can down appropriate enemies and such, and my DPS seems on par with where it should be, but that's a pretty subjective thing without having real numbers to look at.

The "game" part of FFXIV is much improved. Anything that Yoshida was allowed to touch has turned to gold in his hands. Hell, the 1.2X series of patches could be called "much improved" considering the big steaming stool that Tanaka left in his wake.

On the other hand... The business model? Tech support? Customer relations? As bad as they've been since FFXI. Some aspects are a bit better. Some have gotten even worse. Overall, it's still shit. I can't recommend either of the Final Fantasy MMOs to anyone who isn't a masochist.

As one of the few people who actually liked 1.2x and thought if the bugs were fixed i would play the living shit out of it......i though that 2.0-2.1 were good

then 2.2-2.3 happened.......everything that could possibly be wrong in any mmo was in these patches so i dropped that shit like a sack of bricks

I can understand the hate for the second half of patch 2.3 but what was wrong with patch 2.2 other than Leviathan being the easiest EX Primal?
