I would honestly be surprised if we don't get any info on Shin out of this event. Seems like the perfect occasion to drop a trailer and/or release date.

Because a film festival is a place to screen and celebrate existing works, not to announce or promote future work that can't be screened at the very same festival.

Despite the image big studio premieres at festivals like Cannes & Telluride depict, Film Festivals are not the place to sell product. It's a place to celebrate film as an art form & celebrate the individuals who work within the field.

On the other hand, there has been an announcement of future work sponsored by Anno being made at the event -- looks like he's giving a showcase to independent animators

I'm thinking once done with Evangelion, Anno is going to use the capital the films have brought to Khara to do his own thing for a few years.

I'm down for more Eva if it's coming from Anno, personally. It's interesting to hear that he may have another project on the back burner.

But....the way he phrases this though, it sounds like it could mean that he's gonna return to doing another Evangelion-related thing years down the road.

- Anno temporarily separated himself from Gainax to work on Eva. He felt, doing the proposal, that he cold not rely on other people. If Gainax had not done Eva, he had thought about doing it at Sunrise.

- Although they are presented in the form of interviews, according to Anno, the books Schizo and Parano are 90% written by him, including things said by the interviewers (!).

- There were still plans to do the promised all-new Eva film during the making of Death and Rebirth. It was planned to have Death and Rebirth release in the spring and the all-new film release in the summer. However, Rebirth ran over schedule, so they were forced to release it separately in the summer instead (as EoE). Because of this, and Tsurumaki's reluctance to direct it, the all-new film was shelved indefinitely.

- Anno had written the plot of this film. He says it closely resembled Attack on Titan. It took place in a mostly destroyed world, with human beings confined to an area protected by an AT Field. A single bridge connects it to the rest of the world, and this is where the Angels attack. Angels would be seen eating humans, something they couldn't show in the TV series. Also, there would be no entry plugs, but the children would be implanted directly in the wombs of the Evangelions and surgically removed afterwards. If they are not removed quickly enough they are taken in by the Eva and cease to exist as a human being. Elements of this are preserved in the new films.

- Every time Anno works on Eva he breaks down. The original Eva nearly killed him. So it pains Anno to do this to Shinji as much as it pains us to watch it? I don't believe it, Anno is a human being too! I hope he endures to the bitter end like Shinji!

That hurts, Anno. Please don't make jokes like that. And I do agree with Xard about the Miyazaki note. He (Miyazaki) sounds like an excellent motivational speaker to have around, which may be exactly what Anno needs to deal with the Evangelion beast.

Ok, that's the first time I read, that there were two completely new planned movies. I always thought, There only should have been Death and Rebirth. Now the death-threats, while still despicable, make more sense.

That sounds pretty awesome, if I'm being honest. Man, now I want an Attack on Titan directed by Anno. Also, damn you, Tsurumaki. Also, if those elements really did preserve, a Lilin-City becomes more and more possible.
