No, omegamate.

It was Zoe Quinn's ex, not Sarkeesian. Sarkeesian got involved after calling on a group for accepting money from 4chan users.

I got my wires crossed on their names, no more, no less. Which is completely my bad.

Ask Christina Sommers, AKA one of the most respected feminist academics there is.

Before I put my trust in her... what's her opinion on transwomen? I don't trust trans-exclusionary radical feminists.

The [that video gaming controversy] campaign isn't, as some of Sarkeesian's drones and the SJW hivemind would have you believe, a lynch-mob dedicated to destroying people. It's a unified attempt to root out the corruption in the gaming press and to just let people enjoy video games without being labelled as misogynists or racists.

Honestly, it's probably a mixture of both. The snakes in the grass just need to be weeded out.

The fact you're suggesting that we should "destroy" people who want to stand up against these hypocrites and charlatans just proves my point.

You really have nothing to worry about. They're just going to bitch and whine from their computer chairs and really do nothing worthwhile. I mean, it's not like they have the motivation, funding or the weapons to be an actual threat.

Fair enough.

Before I put my trust in her... what's her opinion on transwomen? I don't trust trans-exclusionary radical feminists.

AFAIK she has absolutely no problem with transwomen. She's not actually a radfem at all- some of her most lauded works have actually been pointing out the flaws of "radical" feminism.

Honestly, it's probably a mixture of both. The snakes in the grass just need to be weeded out.

I wish that were true, but unfortunately it's not. Vidya game journalism has always been corrupt, but it was never clear it was quite this bad.

Well, they got Thunderf00t suspended from Twatter, so that's one thing.

Good, good. I mean, I could have looked her up on Wikipedia, but I got all I needed to know.

Well, they got Thunderf00t suspended from Twatter, so that's one thing.

A twitter suspension isn't really that bad, it's not like he was completely banned.

In any case, this is all becoming too topical now and the mods'll yell at us if this continues, so...

Uh...

Dammit I don't have an interesting Youtube video to show! :fistshake:

People say Star Wars, Episode I only had two good scenes: the fight with Darth Maul and the Pod Racing. Well, next time you watch that fight with Darth Maul, you won't be able to not notice any of this.

I miss classic sword-fighting choreography...

That video reminds me a bit of Cinemasins. I'm surprised that they haven't tackled Star Wars at all yet.

They'll probably do the OT leading up to ep. VII's release. Finding stuff wrong with the prequels is old hat nowadays.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

There was a vote a while back on highly requested sins videos. Star Wars IV was an option, but I can't remember what outvoted it. (I do remember that it was outvoted, though.)

Why? Whhhhyyyyyyy?!? Why did you have to ruin it?

(TBH, though, Star Wars fight scenes have never made much sense, even in the original trilogy- the same could be argued for basically every movie sword fight ever. Sword fights are usually over in a few minutes at absolute most. The fight in TPM isn't really any more ridiculous than the ones in the original trilogy- and really, when you consider the fact that an energy blade that weighs noting would be impossible to use anyway, the point is moot.)

And then there were three. Ahh, Russian cartoons. I remember watching Nu, pogodi! (basically Tom and Jerry, but with a rabbit and a wolf) and the Russian adaptation of Winnie the Pooh ages ago. Fun stuff.

The fight between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader in Episode IV is actually fairly realistic. Sure they aren't moving that fast due to age and costume limitations, but from a technical aspect, they do a pretty good job actually parrying and grappling with their light sabers.

I can't deny his points, but I never thought the first half of the fight was worth a damn. It only became halfway decent when Qui-Gon died, and particularly when Maul's saber was cut in half, since then it became a proper swordfight and everyone knew what to do. The double lightsaber was just a mess all around (although they worked it out later).

The only way a three-way swordfight can be badass is if all participants are naked and the swords are their boners.

Cue Duel of the Fates.
