Ok, wasn't drunk but found the bit of time to track it down. The totals are saved in the board config table, which is cached, and when we reach a new record, we save the new record values in the cached version, and when the board config changes, we go back to whatever was in the DB.

I have it dirty the cache now if a new user logged in record is reached, so the cache gets synced with the DB. I think, who knows if it'll work until we actually break the current record.
