Extra Curricular Lesson with Hideaki Anno

A long lost Anno video in which he talks to school kids...and proceeds to scare the shit out of them. It's actually an episode from "Welcome Back for an Extracurricular Lesson, Senpai!" guest starring our favorite Evangelion director. It seems pretty bizarre, which is somewhat expected, and certainly makes me wonder if Anno isn't a few fries short of a Happy Meal. It's filled with such great Anno quotes as:

"I don't have any confidence."

"I chose the name [Evangelion] because it sounds complicated."*

Q: "What does Rei like?"
A: "I haven't thought about it."

Read the full article here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/buried-treasure/2007-05-03

* This makes me wonder how much thought he actually put into the show. Probably a lot less than some people around here give him credit for.

-On EMF, as a thread becomes longer, the likelihood that fem-Kaworu will be mentioned increases exponentially.
-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity

I'm surprised at how much Ube looks like scenes from the series.

****While reading it I almost didn't notice that ***this interview was 10 years old. He made it right after Eva.

He's happily married now and a different person. I don't know too much about him, but I honestly like him, and I don't think he "screwed over the fans" or anything as some have said. Besides, we got End of Eva eventually.
Who is "Codename V"?....
I'm pleased to meet you and I hope you guessed my name, but what's puzzling you, is the nature of my game...so catch me if you can!! (0:50)

I got this video with Anime Play. It's awesome. I was thinking about serving it up when it went out of print.

Shouldn't you be working on Episode 5?

Haha. What was the age group that he was speaking to? I don't think Eva should be brought to young children lol. "As you can see, Shinji and Asuka's relationship is very complicated*first scene of EoE*" Later..."Now, this is Eva unit 2 being ripped to shreds" *children stare in horror*

Honestly, the guy looked a little.....Unstable back then.
I hate not having my Siggy.

So it looks like the magazine has been dead for several years now. I think I'll rip, encode, and seed it to bittorrent. Booyah.

You should totally host this on the main page, too, if you can...
He was warrior and mystic, ogre and saint, the fox and the innocent, chivalrous, ruthless, less than a god, more than a man. There is no measuring Muad'Dib's motives by ordinary standards. In the moment of his triumph, he saw the death prepared for him, yet he accepted the treachery. Can you say he did this out of a sense of justice? Whose justice, then? Remember, we speak now of the Muad'Dib who ordered battle drums made from his enemies' skins, the Muad'Dib who denied the conventions of his ducal past with a wave of the hand, saying merely: "I am the Kwisatz Haderach. That is reason enough."

I think I might. I'm just a little concerned. I like to reproduce and archive things in the interest of education and sustained interest. But I try to stay away from piracy as much as possible.

But as far as I can tell, the video is pretty much out of print, at least in English, so it's most likely something that if distributed could be overlooked.

At the very least, I would be interested in being a raw provider. I think I would rather let someone else time the subs and put it up on bittorrent.

...This is starting to make me think that Anno-sensei is the Woody Allen of Anime. I like! ^_^

Video...huh? DO WANT. Please upload it, somebody! I seriously doubt copyright would be a problem since its so old! (If there was a picsub of After the End and nobody bitched about that, then...)

"Do you like the anime you make?"

"There's parts I like and parts I don't."

"What parts do you dislike?"

"The parts that I'm in."

hehehe, Anno=Shin-chan.

Is this meant to be a comedy or is this serious?
The only things I've seen of Anno where the TOUCH YOUR NISSAN CM and this clip of him drunk and jumping in some pool at his premiere for Love & Pop!

Yes, he probably is/was a few dvds missing from a boxset, but hey, that's why I love him. ^_^;

Cool to know this was made around the time of him getting over his Depression/after TEH EoE. (How'd you do it?! :()

DVD found. VOB file ripped.

Video - 720x480 4:3 NTSC
Audio - AC3 2 Channel Japanese
Subtitle - English

Filesize: 2.26 gigs.

If I use winrar to chop it up into easily downloadable chunks, would you like to take care of the rest?

So, I used winrar's split volume feature, and it totally produced 1607 1.38 meg files... I think I need to split it into slightly larger chunks. ^^;;
