Crikey! M64Py (frontend for Mupen64plus, a Nintendo 64 emulator for Linux) is a bitch to configure! It works really well, but there are a few things that just break. If I run the emulator as catamari (my normal user), it won't load the global configuration file (reverting to built-in defaults) for my controller and it won't let me save new configuration. Basically what this means is it doesn't fucking work right. I can't play a game with borked controls. It just isn't happening. But lo! There is a fix! I've found that if I run the emulator as the superuser, it reads the global configuration file and everything works like a peach. Except saving new configuration. I have to edit the text files manually. But at least I have my controller working. Then again...it's the superuser. That's not normally a good idea.
But, this is an RML, right? Of course it is. I got it to work, and really damn well at that. The next step is getting streaming to twitch working. Right now, there's a 20 or so second delay, I'll see about shortening that.
I'll be doing my Ocarina of Time stream in the coming week or so. I need to get everything set up proper and whatnot. It seems I will be able to stream all of this out of Linux, too. Oh, how I love The Penguin.
