The second half of Evangelion sucked and still does. The first half was a good, kickass mecha show like it's supposed to be, but the second half of it sucked, made it plot driven rather than episodic, which was better and the characters just broke down. The animation was awful in the from 18-26, the voice acting sucked, though a few characters sounded awesome and the show was not as good as episodes 1-17. 18 was so bad that it effected the show as a whole. The religious iconography was stupid and there only for show. Oh and that ending is one big cop out and poorly written.

I like Evangelion, but I hate it as well.

Ten, Asuka: If I were to warm my breasts up do you think they'd get a little bigger? Shinji, I love you, but listen to Asuka.

11,12, 13, 14, forgot these, but the computer angel was cool.

15-20 The turning point, I loved Asuka's I should never kiss to kill time, that kiss scene. Fights more gruesome, Misato and Kaji's sex dialogue.

21-26:
21: Nice to see a backstory.
22: Poor Asuka.
23: Rei's a clone?!
24: Stupid kaworu, leave Shinji-kun alone!
25 and 26: WTF, did I just watch? And Congratulations!

My first thoughts after watching EoTV and EoE?

Holy crap that was tragic and sad.
How can I feel so bad about cartoon characters?
I don't think I'll be watching that again until I'm in a happier point in my life.

I felt like this series was made for me.
Funny scenes, sad scenes, there was no moment where I thought "a person wouldn't act like that, bad writing", the mystery surrounding the angels, awesome action scenes, perfect. 10/10

In all seriousness, I've only watched Evangelion once, and really need to rewatch it. The first time, all joking aside, I found it (or at least the latter half) genuinely disturbing. I had the misfortune to see the director's cuts, which meant I got the unabridged version of 23 that was judged too horrific to air on Japanese TV. Outside of EOE, that was probably the part that traumatized me the most.

And amids all this, what tips Rei off that Armisael is going after Shinji because it's connected to her is that it pulls EVa 01 in a sultry embrace in her form.

It's massively creepy, but there is also this tinge of fridge sadness...

But worse than any visual grossness is the purely mental tension when Rei III is introduced and something is just... not right... the muted non-reactions, the glance straight ahead... in itself it wouldn't be usual, but in the context...

The glare when she takes the glasses, too.

Back in my early teens I watched anime on the regular, things like Sailor Moon, DBZ etc.

Anyway, I wanted to discover more anime and I saw that a show called Neon Genises Evangelion was playing, the short ad piqued my interest, so I stayed up to watch it.

It was the THERMAL EXPANSION episode, but I remember thinking that I enjoyed the characters and the art style.

So I continued watching, and got a hold of the previous episodes, by the end of the series I was left kind of numb and down but also excited to really analyze it all.

When I was older and watched it in full again, it had a more profound impact.
