That's more distracting than full blown disruptive like the toothbrush scene. I'm not a deepfag or anything but nise is definitely more complicated than bake, though I would still put bake slightly above it.

I think I've written something along these lines somewhere before but here goes anyway. Nise has a lot more moral and ethical conflict than Bake. All of the conflict in Bake basically centers around inferiority complexes or other personal insecurities manifesting as supernatural phenomena whereas all of the conflict in Nise is about what constitutes a right to exist, and what defines authenticity (hurr durr title). Kagenui's speech at the end comes off the first time as petty stage setting and villainous posturing but it actually explains the depth of the idea of the supernatural in universe and what each of the specialist's strategies for dealing with the supernatural say about their morality.

So I don't think there's anything less going on, just more to distract you from it. Also Shinobu's bathtub monologue is cooler than any conversation or monologue in bake. That's just my opinion though.

Monogatari is onanism in Powerpoint format. Because onanism is generally speaking pleasant pastime and offers variety of slightly differing thrills that share a common base I find watching various *monogataries appealing.

Still, in light of this I find idea of "pointless fanservice" in monogatari more or less quizzical. To boot episode 8 was only great episode in dirge that was Nisemonogatari anyway.

Back up through episode 6 of NGE. No ED goes as hard as Fry Me to the Moon. Maybe Shiki no Uta.
