The Adolescence of Evageeks
I: The Path to the Dueling Arena

Vice Principal Goro Takeuchi sighed deeply. He really couldn't catch a break, could he? As if running a university-sized school full of hormonal rich teenagers wasn't enough, his girlfriend had decided today to up and leave for Amsterdam. And now there was this! He slammed his fist on his desk in frustration, rattling the ornaments he'd set out a few centimeters. The folder at the center of the desk was unmoved, as though it was determined not to let itself out of his sight for an instant. Instantly he felt ashamed of his anger.

He'd received the news Sunday evening, while he was reclining at home with his dog and a book. The school secretary's voice had been trembling when she sent out the call, and instantly Goro knew something was wrong. The details had made it even worse.

As usual, the headmaster was off on a jaunt, and on her way out she'd been kind enough to stop in Goro's office and say: "Pardon me, kyoutou-san, but I've got to step out - could you make the morning announcements for me?" Before Goro had a chance to respond, the headmaster had thrown on her overcoat and been out the door - though not before tossing the file in question to his desk. The vice principal sometimes wondered how a tactless person like that had ever become headmaster.

The fact remained, though, that she was the one in charge, and her instructions had to be followed. With a great sigh, Goro opened the folder and began to read the documents within. There was nothing he hadn't expected - the script didn't even fill half a page, despite the crushing news it contained.

Goro grabbed the intercom and pressed the red button. When he heard the familiar click, he began to speak. His voice resounded across the school.

"Good morning, students of Ohtori Academy. This is Vice Principal Takeuchi speaking. It is my most unfortunate duty to inform you that senior Akira Ogura took his own life over winter break. I imagine most of you are already aware of this. I would only like to encourage all of you to pay your respects to Akira's family - within reasonable limits, of course."

He paused, letting the words sink in. Once an appropriate length of time had passed, he resumed his announcements.

"I would also like to remind you that student council elections will be held this Friday. Please submit your vote at one of the ballot offices in your dormitory or in the lobby. That is all."

A second click brought the announcement to an end.

With this brief interruption out of the way, students across the academy grounds swiftly returned to their previous activities. Even a death among their number was not enough to hold their attention for long, and would soon be forgotten - even among the deceased student's friends. It was an appalling apathy, to be certain. Some teachers diagnosed it as a paucity of interest, and, therefore, motivation.

Others found that students could be quite motivated - if set to the right task. In an empty corridor of the school, for example, two students even found the time to practice their drama sketches.

"Do you know? Do you know? Have you heard the news?"

"I'm up for my first big job! I'd better make sure I don't mess it up."

"Sit yerself down there, missy, let's look over your resume."

"Yes, sir!"

"Now, let's check out your credentials…er, there's none."

"But I'll always try my best, sir!"

"Your academic achievements aren't that impressive, either."

"I'm a great group worker!"

"Look, I'm sorry, but you just aren't up to snuff for this job. Unless…"

"Unless?"

"There's just one tiny thing you have to do for me."

"What is it? What is it?"

"Do you know…do you know…do you know what it is?"

----------------------------------------------------------------

On Sunday morning, a lone figure strode onto the academy grounds alone. Its face and gender were hidden by shadows, and it moved with inhuman swiftness across the campus. An outside observer might have thought it a shadow given material form.

The shadow crossed the stone walkway at the entrance and headed north, towards the administrative offices. But at the last possible minute, it took a left turn towards the dormitories. As it drew nearer to them - passing by the high school and middle school on the way - it drew out a set of envelopes from nowhere and clutched them in one hand.

Each was emblazoned with a wax rose seal.

It stopped at the girls' dormitory first. After passing through the common room, it found the mail room. With unnatural precision, it located two slots and deposited a letter into each. It then left without saying a word.

The boys' dormitory was next. Here, too, it entered and immediately went for the mail room. It found the three slots it sought, placed a letter into each of them, and left was swiftly as it had entered. No one saw it come, no one saw it leave.

Its work completed, the shadow headed for the campus gates. On its way out, however, it met someone completely unexpected.

Rybys Inoue was taking a morning walk across the campus to tend to her rose garden. She had set out just a few minutes after the figure had left, and now their paths crossed in front of the tower that dominated the school. For a moment, she stared open-mouthed at the figure, and it paused to rest under her gaze. But, as though a mutual understanding had been reached, Rybys pushed her glasses back into place and continued on her way. In turn, the shade turned its back on her and walked away.

As the sun rose on Ohtori Academy, there was no one there who should not have been.

Kaijin

As the morning light flittered into a messy room, it fell onto the sloppy sleeping figure passed out on the floor rousing the boy from his slumber.

“urrgh… what the?” Kaijin groaned as he began to get up, his body not as stiff as he would’ve expected considering he’d apparently fallen sleep on the floor. “Can’t say I remember falling asleep on the floor, actually, can’t say I remember faling asleep… then again a lot has happened… huh I’m alone?”

Kaijin wondered aloud looking around for signs of his roommate, Takashi before he recalled that Takashi was on an extended holiday and wouldn’t be back until later in the semester. Kaijin took a seat on a nearby chair and sighed.

His siter was injured badly, sitting in a hospital bed waiting for the inevitable and Kaijin shuddered. After everything that had happened with his parents, he couldn’t stand the thought of death, heck he’d even had a small panic attack when he had heard about Akira Ogura. He didn’t even know him personally but it was still shocking to hear that someone would …

Blood, the crimson red, dripping, cascading, the smell fresh, red, red, red

Kaijin backed up, throwing his chair to the side and curling up as soon as he tapped against the wall. He didn’t want to remember that, he didn’t want to think about that. Why, why did people die? Why did they have to end? Just like that?

“Not to intrude on your little freak-out there buddy, but you’ve got mail, as they say.” An upbeat voice suddenly piped up and Kaijin immediately looked for the source.

“Who are…?” Kaijin asked out before he glimpsed someone sitting on the window ledge without a care in the world. He was dressed in a black sleeveless shirt, tight fitting crimson leggings and dark red boots and gloves. His snow white hair shone with the light, but the mask on his face, a reflection of comedy hid his face from view. Taking notice of the attention the figure stood up, tiptoeing on the edge and bowing dramatically.

“Well HELLO there you miserable little fellow you, nice of you to actually notice me.” He spoke mockingly either not noticing or deliberately ignoring the look of dread on Kaijin’s face.

“Get down from there! You’ll fall!” Kaijin called out before the figure leaned back and disappeared from view. Kaiin ran to the window and looked for any signs but saw nothing.

“You know, considering how much you wanted to avoid it before, you sure were quick to come see my ‘death’ don’t ya think? Hehehe.” The stranger’s voice crowed from behind him, Kaijin turning to find him sitting at the table like he owned the place.

“You?! How did you?” Kaijin wondered.

“Uh uh, thing about sleight of hand is that explaining it ruins the trick. Now then, I mentioned before, you have a letter. Courier has been and gone mind you, I just took the liberty of bringing it here, oh and taking a peek. You know how it is, curiosity killed the cat. You don’t have a cat do you? That’d be ‘Tragic’!” He wailed hiding his face for a moment before showing it again, only with the mask of tragedy on his face. Kaijin gulped nervously as the oddity tapped the table, a letter with a cracked rose seal sitting on it.

“You realise how rude that is right?” Kaijin commented as he approached, the figure just shrugging.

“And bringing you your mail is a courtesy, see it all evens out.” He stated cheekily. Kaijin glared.

“Who are you anyway? I don’t recognise you at all.” Kaijin growled picking up the envelope and pulling out the letter.

“People call me, ‘the Clown’. Only the heaven’s above could tell you why, perhaps your thinking of paying them a visit like you’re dear ‘sempai’?” The Clown implied and Kaijin froze.

“Shut up… “ He shot back and began reading, trying to distract himself from the other presence. After reading the contents of the letter a few times, his frown growing more and more with each time he turned to the clown and growled. “What kind of joke is this? What the hell is going on?”

“Oh come on now, it’s not that complicated is it?” The clown commented before flicking something at Kaijin’s face. Catching it he looked at the the object, a ring with a rose emblem on it.

“This is?” Kaijin blinked at it confused.

“For the fool constantly walking the tightrope between life and death, there is an even greater stage waiting. If you want to reject the hand you’ve been dealt, then your only option is to revolutionise the world.” The Clown spoke again, by the window once more; Kaijin did a double take of the transition. He was back in ‘comedy’ too.

“What does that even mean?!” Kaijin yelled. The Clown laughed in response.

“Oh just think about it a little, it’ll come to you. Until next time, Ciao.” He spoke once more before stepping off the window ledge. Once again Kaijin ran forward to see what happened, and once again saw nothing. This time though it seemed the odd person had really left.

“What a weirdo? The hand I’ve been dealt? Revolutionise the world? Victory and Eternity? I don’t…” Kaijin pondered before his mind went back to his previous thoughts. Was this really what it sounded like? Could this be a way to fix things? Help his sister?

He stared at the ring in his hand, there was no way it could be true. It was all nonsense, some sick game made by that freak in the mask, right? But then… if it wasn’t… if it was real… Then maybe. Kaijin rolled the ring over in his hands a few times before sighing.

“If there’s an opportunity… I don’t want to miss it.” He said finally, and slipped the ring on his hand. Now he would just have to wait and see where this would lead.

Kayoji

So as the sun rises, I've waked myself up and got myself dress in my school uniform, packed up my Fencing gear & started making Breakfast and Lunch; after that I started to walk out of the Student Dormitory and to the old fencing hall for training.

As I was walking out of student Dormitory, I check my mailbox for any messages from my relatives and found a letter from some End of the World guy that I've never met in my life and a Ring encrusted with a rose seal; I started reading the letter:

Fate is like a wheel. As long as you are the torus, doomed to rotate in a single motion forever, you cannot advance. Only when you become the spoke, the spokes which reach out from the heart of the world and break free of the constraints of the wheel, will you be able to change anything.

(Enclosed is a ring. If you truly wish for the Revolution, put it on your finger.)

Signed
The End of World

At First I thought it was a complete joke but then I realise the potential of it, a way to get back to times where I felt more happy and willing to be close friends with anyone I've met; A time when my parent were still around, the only I've had photo of them is in my locket and I've still wear it to this day as a memory of those time but I digress. *put the rose signe on his dominant hand*

So I've continued walking to the old fencing hall then some masked person with white hair appeared in Front of me:

"Hello Mumma's boy did you read the letter I put in the letterbox Ohohoho"

"I bet you did not read it because you spend most of your time crying to your now dead parent"

"Hey don't talk shit about my parents"

"Oh you want to fight me, ok meet me at the Dueling Forest which is north from the chairman's tower but Oh wait I don't have a rose signet so I can't access the dueling forest; too bad so sad"

"Can you shut the shut up and leave me alone"

"Ok see you in the future Ohohoho"

As I Continue on to the old fencing hall, I see my a friend of mine; Aiko Takei walking up to see me:

"Hey can I train with you, I need to improve my skills after a long hiatus"

"Sure I need someone to practice with since most of the other students are busy doing their own thing"

"Let Go Kayoji-Sempai"

And as I did my training with her, I've realize that I have a crush on her without realizing then the pessimist in me started to about the future of this relationship, will she leave me? how can I spend the rest of my life without her? will she die at some point? then I realize my true goal as a duelist, the ability admit my love to her; I would feel much better that way, I need to let go of my past and look towards the future that what I should focus on as duelist.

"Thank you for training Kayoji-Sempai, I hope to see you again in the future for more training"

And the she starts to walk away and then I start moving to my respective dormitory with a warm and Fuzzy feeling.

To be continue

Scarriotte

Scarriotte hauled herself out of bed, stretched, and yawned. She felt exhausted, her night having been restless and plagued with bad dreams, but she knew she had to get up. She had a long day ahead of her, and there was no point sleeping in any longer.

The other members of the dormitary had already got up and left. Good.

Drawing the curtains, she slowly unwrapped the tight red cotton bandages around her torso. Her skin underneath was even more lifeless than the rest of her; an unhealthy shade of pinkish grey, covered in blotches. Her skin was criss-crossed with ugly scars, stitches and weals. There was a reason she usually kept away from the other girls; she hated everything about her body, from the greyish pallour of her skin to her eyepatch to her inflamed pink sclera. The others made fun of her or were repulsed by her. Best to stay away from them.

She carefully applied ointment to her bruised skin, before taking her bandages and winding them back around her body. She sighed, and went to put some clothes on.

However, as she went to retrieve them, she noticed something lying by the bed. It was a small letter with a wax rose seal. It must have been delivered when she was still asleep. She gingerly picked up the little envelope and opened it.

Inside was a letter, written in fine, spidery script.

If the egg's shell does not break, the chick will die unborn. We are the chick. The world is our egg. If we do not break the world, we will die unborn.

You know everything there is to do. I've come to bring you what you need.

Enclosed is a ring. If you truly wish for revolution, put it on your finger.

Yours,

End of the World.

Turning the envelope upside down, a little ring tumbled out of the paper package. It was small but ornate, once again with a rose sculpted upon it.

Scarriotte thought hard. This was why she had joined this school. She had been told that here, she could make a difference, that if she desired change, this was where to go. She had spent so long on the streets of Milan, surviving on fight money. This, it seemed, was the chance she had always wanted. The chance for the death of ignorance. The chance to avenge and vindicate her father, who had saved her all those years ago.

The chance for revolution.

She closed her eyes, and slipped the ring upon her finger.

She admired the trinket. It was pretty, and sat very well upon her bony fingers.

Checking the curtains were closed, she reached under her bed and pulled out her beloved Zweihander. She embraced the weapon, holding the blade against her cheek.

"You and me are going to change the world" she whispered, her breath condensing on the metal. "But for now... we wait"
Here lies Squigsquasher.

Ryo

The morning sun began to shine through the cracks of the curtains drawn across the window, rousing a figure from his sleep.

He let out a large yawn and hefted himself out of bed. Shooting a glance over to his slumbering roommate, Ryo let out a sigh and began to prepare for the day ahead. He pulled on his student council uniform and hastily made his way out of the room.

Satoki is such a lazy oaf He thought to himself about his roommate.

He wandered down to his mailbox. Normally he did not receive much mail, so he was surprised when he pulled out an envelope sealed with wax in the shape of a rose.

What is this about I wonder? He thought as he carefully opened the envelope. He read it carefully.

To revolutionize the world; such a task is more befitting a god than a man. Yet it may also be achieved by a man who is like a god himself. And to become the new god, one must first tear down the gods of old.

(Enclosed is a ring. If you truly wish for the Revolution, put it on your finger.)

“The hell is this supposed to mean?” He thought out loud as he pulled out the ring.

Maybe this is my chance…

He slipped the ring onto his finger and stared at it for a moment before letting out a laugh.

Sihaya Cherem
Sihaya awoke with beastly pains in her entrails, sweaty and filthy, as if she was dead already. She showered in the coldest of waters, dressed herself, and left the room. It was 6:08.
In the bookcase beneath her messy bed a few books stood, ordered but without any care placed into their positioning. Her textbooks, a Qu'ran, and a few Zen books she had picked up upon arriving in Japan. Zen, a religion based on the death of care, on annihilation of self.
As she passed through her dormitory, her keen eyes spotted that there was a letter in her box. Were it from her parents she wouldn't read it, just reply. If not (and she quickly saw it was not) who else could it be from? No one wrote letters anymore, except for those boys who had once or twice given her notes with atrocious poetry.
Now she was outside. The air was clean, cold and careless; a haughty half-divine lord lovingly denying her worth. But even the air needed trees and animals to mantain its own composition. She sat on a low stone wall, breathing, almost smiling at the impersonal little pleasure she allowed herself.
The envelope had a rose on it, and she felt her guess validated. What idiot had this wrote, and what had wrote this idiot? She felt a ring in it. Did he mean to propose to her?
The End of the World wrote:To Sihaya Cherem
I want what you feel, believe me...turn the current on.
(Enclosed is a ring. If you truly wish for the Revolution, put it on your finger.)
-The End of the World

This was not what the girl expected. The message was enigmatic, like a single line of a sura. It wasn't the work of a lovesick boy, despite the seductive voice, for a secret admirer could never be that seductive.
But it was the name of the one who had sent it that caused her faith. The End of the World. She knew it was coming, she had known for years. The end of everything, the end of existence. But "End" had another meaning. Not an end as opposed to a beginning, but an end as in the goal; the inevitable passage of God's mystic plan.
She felt a bit of courage.
She spat onto the ground beside her, by no efficient cause her saliva already mixed with dirt and stale blood.
She put on the ring.
It was 6:18.

Takeuchi groaned. He had been looking forward to a nice day off from work - maybe he would have gone to see the waterfront, or taken a stroll through the park - yet instead he was stuck in his home workplace, trying to sort out over dozen applications for positions on the student council. He was grateful, at least, that Ohtori held elections on a party system; electing one party meant electing everyone from that party to their assigned positions. Even so, the documents were so dull to read that he barely even skimmed them before stamping 'Approved' on the front page.

"At least that's the last of them," he mumbled, throwing another document on the pile. "Now, if I could just…"

He paused. For an instant, he thought another document had appeared out of nowhere on the table - but then he remembered it had always been there, always. Yet for some reason, he regarded it with particular interest.

"'The Revolutionary Party,'" he read. "Interesting name." He turned the page to the roster. As he read each name, he began to frown. Scarriotte Alfonse, Sihaya Cherem, Ryo Hayashi, Kaijin Iwakaen, and Kayoji Hitomotori…all students with no prior interest in student government and, as far as he knew, nothing in common with each other. He tried to review everything he knew about each student. Alfonse had transferred here a few years ago to complete her high school education; the other students were terrified of her, and she didn't seem fond of them either. Cherem was an ill and sickly girl, always missing class yet usually performing well. She wasn't particularly popular. Hayashi was a hothead, always getting in scuffles on school grounds over the most minor things. Iwakaen and Hitomotori he knew less about, as they'd only been under his jurisdiction for half a year, yet they seemed as different as night and day.

He flipped the page again, and found to his bafflement nothing on the third page: no text, none of the required explanation of the party's policies and goals for the student body. Nothing but a very bright red rose crest.

"They must be joking," he muttered, and flipped to the final page of the document - and was held transfixed by the words it held.

The Ends of the World command you to not only grant this party admission, but lead it to victory. It is their part to bring revolution to the world, and you must help them towards that goal.

Without even willing it to do so, his right arm reached for the stamp. It did not find it immediately, and groped for it instead, knocking over pens, binders, even lamps in its quest. Finally he felt his hand grasp it.

Then, as much as he willed it to stop, please stop, his hand pressed the stamp against the ink, and then brought it down onto the paper. When that single task was accomplished, Takeuchi fell unconscious at his desk. The stamp slipped from his hand and hit the floor.

---------------------------------------------------------

Two hours later, Takeuchi awoke feeling very refreshed. What was it? Was it that he had finished the last party form for the student council elections? Of course it was!

He gently placed the last document on top of all the others and left the office, humming to himself.

Kaijin

After taking another quick rest and cleaning his dorm room a little, Kaijin began to head towards his classes. The letter fresh in his mind and the ring back on his finger as for some reason he’d removed it earlier, probably for his brief nap, Kaijin strode through the gates of the school. People walking around, talking happily, perfectly normal; he frowned a little as he began to doubt the letter he’d received earlier once more. Could anything really be changed? Could the world truly be changed? And what was all this about Victory exactly? Some kind of competition? Somewhere in the back of his mind, he already knew what it meant, he was certain it’d be violent, dangerous, something he would normally avoid like the plague. But at the same time, if there was a chance, even the smallest chance…

*Bump*

“Huh? Oh sorry, excuse me.” Kaijin said automatically and moved to help up the girl he’d just knocked over. She had been carrying a watering can? She stared at him and his outstretched hand blankly and Kaijin noted her foreign features. Olive skin, dark blonde hair and hollow grey eyes. His hand twitched and then he noticed she was looking at the new decoration that was there, the source of his hopes and his doubts.

“Uhh… hello? Are you ok?” Kaijin asked nervously before the girl lightly nodded and accepted his hand. Pulling her up she nodded lightly before retrieving her watering can and walking to a nearby greenhouse, filled to the brim with roses. “O~K… Maybe she liked the design? Oh whatever I have to get to class.”

Putting the strange foreign looking girl out of his mind, Kaijin moved on heading for his usual classroom. Fearing that he might be late he took off at a calm sprint, not pushing himself fully but still giving it some decent effort. Being as athletic as he was though he made good time and walked into class.

Almost immediately he wished he’d been late as the gaggle of love struck girls and the clamouring of rowdy boys shrieked out in chorus to his left, the centre of it all being the popular Kayoji Hitomotori. From the looks of him, he’d either run all the way here or had been practicing earlier and either hadn’t showered or wasn’t quite dry from it.

Kaijin wasn’t good with guys like him, he was a prodigy and everyone in the fencing club and his year knew of him by now. Popularity was a strange thing, it was something Kaijin envied and yet he always dreaded the thought of possessing it. Trying to ignore it all he sat in his chair and began fidgeting with his ring once more, staring at the valuable trinket.

“Morning Kaijin-kun.” A soft voice spoke up as a girl took a seat next to him. Kaijin nodded in response, she was a shorter than him, with neat straight light brown hair. Yuzu Fujioka, something of a princess from a rich family who had been quick to befriend him. Why did she do that again? There was something…

“Good morning Yuzu, I’m surprised you’re not fawning over Hitomotori like the rest.” Kaijin stated still fidgeting with his ring.

“Well I would normally, he’s really quite handsome. But I got a letter from Takahiro-sama this morning.” Yuzu Squeed causing Kaijin to wince.

“Your family arranged Fiancé huh? How… nice…” Kaijin commented. Why she was excited about being set up with a guy 4 years her senior was beyond him. She had only met him once in person as well. Oh well, rich kids and their ways.

“Of course it is, ooh I can’t wait.” She cooed and fawned over her words. Kaijin just laughed nervously. Why had she befriended him again? Oh right, something to do with middle school and saving her, Kaijin didn’t remember it at all.

“Great… I’m happy for you, really.” Kaijin droned unenthusiastically. It wasn’t that he was unhappy or anything like that, he just found it really hard to genuinely congratulate her when she abused his eardrums after every correspondence with her beloved Takahiro-sama.

“Ah.. I uh… I heard about Kati-chan. I’m sor-“ Yuzu began.

DON’T! … just… don’t.” Kaijin cut her off drawing some attention from his outburst. It was bad enough that it was always at the back of his mind without being directly reminded about it. He knew Yuzu didn’t mean any harm, but intention and result are two different things.

“I’m sorry…” She muttered subdued. Kaijin sighed gave her a weak smile.

“No, don’t apologize… I’m just… Stressed. I’m sorry for snapping.” Kaijin said and within seconds she was smiling and squeeing over her damned fiancé again.

Now having to drone her out as well, and conscious of several glances that kept coming his way after his little outburst, Kaijin just continued fidgeting with the ring. The only thing he could do now was hope that this was real, and not just some sick joke.

Ryo

Ryo began to head towards his classes. He ignored all those around him as he strode past the schools gates.

“Ryo! Hey Ryo!”

He quickly stopped as he was interrupted and turned around to see who was calling for him.

“Oh, hi Kazumi” He greeted her.

“What’s up?” She inquired.

Kazumi has long brown hair and green eyes and has a very happy go lucky and fun loving demeanor. Just by looking at her, most people would think that she is the stereotypical good looking girl. That could not be further from the truth. Not only is she pretty and likes to have fun, but she is very intelligent and has the dedication to school to go with it. She is one of the very few people that Ryo has been able to become friends with. He is also quite smitten with her although, he would have to be very hard pressed to admit that.

“Oh, just heading to class.” He explained.

“Yeah me too.” She stretched her arms out above her head. She then glanced down at Ryo’s hand and saw the ring upon his finger.

“Oh what’s this?! A ring? When did you get that? She asked.

"I got it this morning with a letter I received." He explained.

"Ohhhh is it from a secret admirer?!"

"No! Nothing like that!" Ryo rebutted.

"I think you're lying!"

"Well I'm not!" He pushed back.

I wonder if this is all some big joke that someone is playing on me. If it is and I find out who it is, I’m going to beat their ass. He thought to himself.

Kazumi started laughing. "I'll find out the truth sooner or later! Besides, it is a pretty cool looking ring I think."

"Yeah it is pretty cool I guess." Ryo said.

The two then arrived a few doors down from Kazumi's classroom.

“Okay! I’ll see you later Ryo!” Kazumi said as she started to head for her classroom.

“See you later!” Ryo said back as he began to go further down the hallway towards his class.

Scarriotte

Miss Alfonse slowly strolled down the cobbled path from the dormitory to the classes. Her school uniform was much too hot, especially with the tight bandages underneath, but she paid no heed to it. She had put up with far greater hardships than a stuffy uniform on the streets of Milan after all. She was still haunted by the memories-the wounds she had inflicted to make enough money to eat, sleeping rough on the pavement, fending off all sorts of thugs, murderers, thieves, and general scum...

Besides, if she was going to bring a revolution, she needed to harden up.

As she strode through the gardens towards the school, several students passed her. Some of them quickly turned the other way, others stared with a mixture of revulsion and curiosity, and some hastily walked past, a look of fear on their faces.

One boy looked at her and sniggered under his breath, thinking she would not notice.

She gave him an icy stare of utter contempt, her one remaining eye fixing on him. As she walked past him, she let out a quiet but intimidating growl, low and guttural.

The smile quickly leaving his face, the terrified boy ran away as quickly as possible.

Rolling her eye, Scarriotte removed a small mirror from her pocket, flipping it open and looking at herself. It was no wonder the other students found her so frightening-her face was the same bruised grey as the rest of her skin, with a long stitched-up scar running down across her cheek and ruined eye, partially obscured by her eyepatch. Her remaining eye was hardly pretty either. The sclera was an unhealthy pink, crisscrossed with blood vessels, and her iris a fiery amber. Her hair-a deep shade of auburn red-was the only remotely normal thing about her.

Her only friend in the school was a quiet girl by the name of Nadeshiko Wakamoto. She of all people seemed to understand her, and often came to see her when she was lonely. Nadeshiko didn't care about Scarriotte's hideous appearance, something the Italian was quietly grateful for. Hopefully she would get the opportunity to see her today.

She was continuing on her way when she saw a boy she recognized as Ryo Hayashi. If her memory served her well, he was a brash troublemaker, forever getting into fights. She was largely indifferent to him, although she swore if he ever picked a fight with her she would tear his spine out and feed it to him. For a moment it seemed pretty normal, but then she noticed something that got her attention.

Ryo was wearing a rose-shaped ring, just the same as hers.

Could he also be seeking...revolution? Did this mean he was a companion...or a rival?

As she walked into the school building, Scarriotte made a mental note to ask Hayashi about the ring. She had a feeling it was going to become very important.

Kayoji

So I've got myself cleaned up after 4 hours worth of practising my skills in swordplay, then I spent the rest of the day studying then I've got myself ready for bed and started sleeping at about 8:00 and slept until seven o'clock in morning then I've got myself ready and started walking to classes.

On the way down to the classes I've saw 4 people with the same ring as me 1)Kaijin Iwakaen was about the year level as me while I was impress by his athletic skills I've stay away from him since the accident with his sister but I can relate to him and his sister in their current situation I just don't want to get involved in his business. 2)Ryo Hayashi is a arrogant prick, never Liked his hotheaded personality Honestly 3)I so sorry for what Sihaya Cherem has to go through, I've heard that her disease affects her Digestive and Reproductive system badly, I hope she survives the disease 4)Scarriotte is just weird, she has been the source of many rumor one of them saying that her father is a witch, her physical appearance does't help ether with a patch on her left and lot of scars; she was given the nickname "Scarriott the Pirate" by the year 10 students.

Its the first time in a while that I've seen them in person but it weird that they have the same ring as me it makes me how this entire Revolution thing is going to work?

After that I've continue down to class and spent most of that Mourning doing English and Science until lunchtime, while I was having lunch Aiko visited my table to chat with me:

"Kayoji-san, whats that ring on your hand? are you engaged to someone?"

*Laughs* "Not really but these rose ring encrested ring have been a popular fashion trend these days everyone has waring these rings"

"Really? Ok I'm fine with So Hows is your day been doing?"

"It going ok, English and Science went by fast, after launch I'm doing Maths and Fencing"

"Ok so is it fine that I can polish your Rapier for you to save time I know how to polish up metal"

"Um...Sure just be careful with the hilt, it embedded with gold so don't the sword.

"Ok see ya later"

I spaced out for a few minute out of my pessimistic love for her but I need keep my focus on studies so I can make my now parents proud not this romance shit.

The day finishes up and sleep for tuesday

Sihaya Cherem
She felt like she was always overwhelmed by work, but in the particular, she couldn't name any time lately that she was. More often she found herself waiting, for the next class or meal or whatever useless aspect of her life so she could finish it quickly and move on to being bored by the next.
It certainly didn't help that she denied herself any joys beyond the air and her own movement. To live in the present, caring not for the past and future, not beginning anything that might not be finished (like her life)
So she stood by the hedges outside the dormitory for the next forty-one minutes, breathing.
Then she walked inside, not merely walking, but dancing with quiet joy. She arrived before the breakfast room eighteen seconds before the maid opened the door, entering silently.
For breakfast she had a small scone, some peaches, and coffee. It was best to eat lightly, in her condition, regardless of how weak it made her.
This took but five minutes. She left the dormitory again, just as the first others were beginning to stumble down the halls, and waited on the plaza longer.
At last when she sat at her desk she lay her head on her arms, looking at darkness as the other students crowded in. She heard some girls on her right joking, against all her better judgement she found herself inwardly smiling at the tasteless remark. In anger she threw a hand up her sleeve, and scratched one of her marks until it broke. She raised her finger and examined the blood.
And it was then that she saw Hyashi. With uncharacteristic shock she lept up and grabbed his hand.
"You got a letter from the End of the World as well?"

Rybys Inoue entered the school at the same time as everyone else. She held her briefcase in her left hand. Her right was clutching an envelope; she held it firmly, but not too firm so as to risk bending it even a centimeter. Rybys wore her usual vacant smile, but a keen observer might note something different in her eyes. They seemed to hold a quiet intensity in them, as though the girl was about to undertake some great work.

It would have to be a very keen observer, though.

Her first destination was the greenhouse. It was located in the courtyard at the middle school. Shaped like a giant birdcage, it attracted few visitors despite its beauty.

Rybys set the letter down on a table and set about watering the roses. Roses were the only flower she grew, but she had such a variety and tended to them so well that no one could object. There were a fair amount of reds, but also some whites, yellows, blues, even greens. When she was nearly done with the first quarter, however, Rybys had run out of water. She left the greenhouse posthaste and headed towards the drinking fountains. She filled the watering can three quarters of the way, and then ran back towards the greenhouse. In her single-minded determination, she paid little attention to what was not directly in front of her, and she collided violently with another student.

"Sorry," she said immediately, keeping her head low. But a random motion of the boy's hand brought her gaze to it - more specifically, to the fourth finger. It held an alabaster ring, emblazoned with a rose crest. Rybys Inoue, of all people, knew what it meant.

"Are you okay?" the boy asked. She did not answer, only nod; her eyes were still focused on his hand. She stood up, murmured "arigatou", and continued on her way.

Kaijin Iwakaen, she thought. I wonder...

------------------------------------------

After tending to the roses, Rybys went to class. She did not raise her hand once or answer a single question. There were tests in two of her classes; she completed both of them without looking at the questions.

When the lunch bell rang, Rybys set off on a mission. On the grounds of the school there was a huge old apple tree. It had borne no fruit in over ten years, and it was overrun with knots - but there was one student sure to be there. Scarriotte Alfonse sat at the base of the tree, watching students in the distance enjoy their lunches. When Rybys saw her, she smiled and broke into a run.

"Hello," she said to the girl. "I have a letter for you...please take it."

She held out the letter that she'd been carrying all day. Scarriotte pulled it out of her hands sharply, but Rybys went on smiling.

"Thank you!" she said, and ran off. That had gone perfectly.

Scarriotte

Class, as usual, had been utterly forgettable. True, she had learned a few things, but somehow, it all seemed extremely insignificant, the same stuff as always. Sure, she loved science-some of her prized possessions were a stack of biology textbooks after all-but what she was learning at the moment was so...pedestrian. She swore she was going to gut someone if she had to do one more experiment involving limestone and milky white precipitate.

She had already finished her lunch-a plate of sausages and a chunk of bread-and now she was simply reclining beneath her favourite tree. She gazed at the other students, enjoying their food, and felt deep resentment well up inside her. "An ignorant mass of sheep." she thought to herself. "The same kind that murdered my father and left me for dead. I hate them...I hate them so much..."

Yet, as much as she despised them, she also envied them. To eat with one's friends, to laugh, sing, fall in love...Things she had loved when she was a little girl, before her fateful 12th birthday, the day the illness struck her.

She sighed. 7 years in Italy's slums and allies had made her a bitter person. Sometimes she wished she could be less hateful, but-

"Hello, I have a letter for you...please take it."

The soft female voice interrupted Scarriotte's train of thought. She turned to face the girl-a pretty thing with blonde hair, olive skin and smoky grey eyes. "Rybys Inoue," thought the Italian. "What does she want?"

Then she saw the letter Inoue was holding.

Glaring at the girl, she snatched it from her hands, before turning away from her. She had no time for Rybys-she wanted to be left alone.

"Thank you!" said the girl, running off. There was a hint of nervousness to her voice. Scarriotte was used to it-the only person who wasn't either utterly repulsed by her or objectively terrified of her was Nadeshiko.

She carefully removed a letter opener, carved from yew. She knew she wasn't supposed to have it, but she didn't really care.

She tore open the envelope, and nearly dropped the letter when she read it.

"I hope this letter finds you well - lovely as she is, that dear girl hasn't the most level head on her shoulders. I am writing you so soon after my last letter only to inform you that, as of Saturday, you are a candidate for student council, along with four other students of my choosing. All of these students possess rose signet rings and have received letters from me; they will be your allies in your quest to revolutionize the world. Their positions are as follows:

S. Alfonse - President
S. Cherem - Executive Vice President
R. Hayashi - Social Vice President
K. Iwakaen - Treasurer
K. Hitomotori - Secretary

As president, I expect you to be the natural leader of the duelists. It is therefore your duty to gather them together in preparation for the elections on Friday. There is no need to strain yourselves in order to win the election - I have made the necessary preparations. Once you enter into office, the true game can begin."

"So that's why Hayashi had the ring..." she thought to herself.

She was rather pleased to see she had been made president of the club. It was not often she was picked for anything, but president of the revolutionary club?

She smiled to herself. Things were looking up.

Ryo

Ryo entered the crowded classroom and quickly sat down. Other student’s slowly filed in one by one and made small talk to each other as they made their way to their seats. He started to pull out the things he would need for today when suddenly, Sihaya grasped his hand.

“You got a letter from the End of the World as well?” She asked.

This caught him off guard. Normally he would have jerked his hand away and delivered a harsh scolding to whomever it was that grabbed him, but this was different. This meant that he was not the only one that received a letter and ring from "the End of the World".

“Yeah I got a letter.” Ryo answered.

How many more received letters and rings too? he thought as he made a mental note to keep a lookout for anyone else sporting a ring with a rose signet upon it. Joke or not, whatever was going on, he was going to get to the bottom of it.

Sihaya Cherem
Sihaya didn't blush, even if she had drawn the eyes of the entire class by kneeling next to a boy and snatching his hand. Years of failed restraint had given rise to years of constant restraint, and she was in those years now. Even her thoughts were usually controlled, and her straightened mind gave itself to the end of the End smoothly and willingly.
"And what did that angel tell you?"

On the Friday of that week, students walking out of their last class before lunch were faced by another announcement over the intercom - but this one was not read by Vice Principal Takeuchi. The speaker's voice was breathy and sensual, and although he was male, boys seemed as entranced by his words as girls were.

"Good afternoon, students. I would like to announce the victors in the elections held this morning. Although the polls were close, final victory went to…"

He paused, and every student held their breath.

"…the Revolutionary Party. At 5:00 this evening, would all members of the party please report to the central column on campus to be sworn in. Thank you for your time, and good day."

The announcement ended, but the students were held in place and instant longer. Then they all came alive once more, shook their heads, and went on their way.

Some - but nowhere near all - of them wondered: "Who voted for those weirdos in the Revolutionary Party?"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Tonight, the duelists will gather together for the first time. My letters so far have sought to be as oblique as possible, but they will expect explanations tonight. That will be your job."

"Yes, my lord."

"And you, my lovely little creature, you must be there as well. If my promises haven't kept them, you may be able to do so."

"Of course, my lord."

"Very well. Meeting adjourned."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

That evening, when the recently-elected student council members met at the base of the column, they were greeted by Rybys Inoue. She acted much the same as always, being polite but frustratingly opaque. She directed them to the elevator, and the six of them ascended three floors.

They stepped out into a massive chamber with a stained-glass ceiling. There was a balcony opposite the elevator that overlooked the track and, beyond that, the forest.

Waiting for them was an adult man, tall, with pale brown hair and fair skin. He smirked when he saw them, as though they amused him.

"Welcome, all," he said. "I am Johji Kamina - staff advisor to the student council..."

He raised his hand, revealing a red rose crest ring.

"…and appointee of End of the World."

The student council had met at the central column of the school. It was cold, the evening air chilling the student's skin. The evening sky was overcast, with the moon just about shining through the scuds of dark cloud.

Tapping her foot, Scarriotte tightly gripped the pommel of her Zweihander. Though the staff had complained about bringing the weapon with her, she had argued that it would act as a symbol of the revolution, and besides, it was the only thing she had left of her father. They had begrudgingly allowed her to take it, and she stood with it by her side.

She inspected her fellow council members. There was Sihaya Cherem, a girl who, much like herself, was afflicted by some dreadful disease. She had pale skin, and her otherwise attractive face was marred by a large boil on her cheek. She had dark brown eyes, golden-blonde hair with purple highlights, and all in all looked quite pretty.

She liked Cherem. Maybe it was the fact that they had both suffered from debilitating illnesses, and the fact that even when by all means she should be bedridden, she soldiered on and carried on with her day anyway. Scarriotte had always admired people with a will to survive. To fight through such an ailment...

Then there was Kaijin Iwaeken. An unassuming boy, he was nonetheless athletic and well built, although his hands were quite rough and under his left eye was a crescent shaped mark. She knew little about him, aside from the fact that both his parents had died and his sister was ill. She was impressed by his acrobatics skills, but she reserved judgement on him until she got to know him better.

She switched her gaze to Ryo Hayashi. A redhead with bright blue eyes, she knew he had been involved with a fire of some sort, and that he was a troublemaker and a brawler. She had bore witness to many of his fights and scuffles, all of them insignificant and at best amusing. Despite this he was hugely arrogant, and seemed to be convinced that he was some kind of glorious fighter. Fool. she thought to herself. You know nothing of true combat. When you have spent 7 years fighting to stay alive, then I'll be impressed.

Then...there was Kayoji Hitmotori. She did not like him at all. The lavender-mopped brat seemed like just the sort of obnoxious halfwit she hated. Well-bred, infuriatingly snobbish, and extremely disagreeable. "Scarriotte the pirate" she remembered him calling her behind her back. Her sword trembled in her hand just thinking about it.

Suddenly, out of the darkness stepped a tall, fair-skinned man withh a slender frame, light brown hair and a red rose signet ring. He cut an imposing figure, and walked with considerable grace.

"Welcome, all," he said. "I am Johji Kamina - staff advisor to the student council…and appointee of End of the World.""

Scarriotte grimaced. She had not been expecting an "advisor". She did not want someone controlling her and the Revolutionary Party like puppets on strings.

She had to get an explanation from this man. It was going to be difficult, given that despite being 19 she looked the youngest and shortest of the whole group, but she was not prepared to back down.

"And what..." she demanded, her tone stern with a very subtle hint of fury. "Are YOU here for? I was not informed we were having an "advisor" as you claim to be. By chance do you intend to steer our revolution to your own ends?"

She pointed defiantly at the man, who to her annoyance did not seem the slightest bit ruffled.

"As president of the Revolutionary Party, I, Scarriotte Alphonse, demand an explanation for this trickery!"

Ryo gathered at the central column as instructed per the announcement earlier in the day. It was a cold, cloudy evening and he would have liked nothing more to have been back in his dorm room where it was warm and doing his normal exercise routine before doing homework and going to bed.

Why he was picked to be the Social Vice president? He had no clue. He much rather would have preferred being picked as the President but, he figured that this would do for now.

He glanced over at Scarriotte and noticed that she had brought her weapon along with her to this meeting. He started to think that maybe he should have brought his along as well, but considering his record of getting into trouble on an almost constant basis, the staff probably wouldn't have allowed him to.

After the others had gathered a man stepped out of the darkness. He was holding a rose signet ring.

"Welcome, all," he said. "I am Johji Kamina - staff advisor to the student council…and appointee of End of the World."

Who the hell is this clown?! Ryo thought.

"And what... Are YOU here for? I was not informed we were having an "advisor" as you claim to be. By chance do you intend to steer our revolution to your own ends?" Scarriotte demanded from the man harshly, as she pointed at him in a furious manner.

As president of the Revolutionary Party, I, Scarriotte Alphonse, demand an explanation for this trickery!"

“Yeah, I want to know too!” Ryo said sternly. “Just what the hell is going on here?!”

It was 4:30 pm
Class just finished 2 hours ago and I just heard the announcement that the newly student council members must report to the central tower for the Revolutionary party?
Earlier this afternoon I've receive my respective uniform for Student Council.
then I've got myself dress.
When it comes to fashion for me, I try to make myself as professional as possible considering my role and status in the School so for me any clothes that are rugged and unprofessional will destroy my status as one of the Upper class men in the school.
To Quote Shakespeare:
"To be, or no to be"

Now it 5:00 and I've enter the elevator with coincidentally the same 5 people I've Seen with the rose signet back on Monday; Scarriotte the Pirate as I like to call her is wielding her Zweihander I bet she won't beat me in a fight; I'm one of the best Fencers in the school my Agility beats her Strength when considering how hard it is to hit someone with above average agility.
Ryo seams to be board out of his mind, it seams that he just wanted to stay home probably from doing too much exercise because he wants to better then anyone else, I'm much better at swordplay the he is.
Sihaya is there which is ironic considering she tends to be bedridden
Kaijin I did not focus because I was more concern about the fact that one of the creepiest students in the school was the president.

So then all six of us left the elevator and entered a massive chamber with a stained-glass ceiling then I spotted a grown men coming up to us and then he introduce himself:
"Welcome, all," he said. "I am Johji Kamina - staff advisor to the student council..."

He raised his hand, revealing a red rose crest ring.

"…and appointee of End of the World."

What? so he is the End of the World? Why would the End of the World would also be the Student Council? Advisor then Ryo and Scarriotte started to Question:
"And what... Are YOU here for? I was not informed we were having an "advisor" as you claim to be. By chance do you intend to steer our revolution to your own ends?" Scarriotte demanded from the man harshly, as she pointed at him in a furious manner.

As president of the Revolutionary Party, I, Scarriotte Alphonse, demand an explanation for this trickery!"

“Yeah, I want to know too!” Ryo said sternly. “Just what the hell is going on here?!”

I also start to Question him:
"Why did you choose us for Student Council? I thought the the student council election was determent by the choices of the student himself not you? Can you explain to me too?
