^ Now that's a cause I think we can all get behind. Even if he doesn't direct himself, Khara has the resources now to help or take over or whatever is needed and finish it I would think.

It's a sad state of affairs when Satoshi effin' Kon's final project can't get funding. Makes me worry about the future of anime. I suppose it'll take a powerhouse like Khara to finish it if it's to be finished at all. Make it happen Anno!

Dreaming Machine seems like a good cause. I wouldnt mind seeing what kind of a cluster fuck of a movie Kon was up to just before his illness set in. Paprika was crazy enough....no doubt would have been overshadowed by Dreaming Machine. Was Anno and Kon ever on good terms with one another? I never reallly heard much about the two anime directors talking with each other.

There is a 14 year gap now. Plenty of time to do a TV series dedicated to Misato's rebel squad and their backstory, and have to Asuka as a main character.

LOVE IT.

Also: Rebuild of Kare Kano.

Also, I wouldn't mind seeing Anno doing something original.
God, Apparently you all have been discussing Q since November. Catching up on the discussion is harrowing.

I don't think that's gonna happen. Kare Kano was an adaption of a manga, and as I understand it the orginal creator did not like the changes to the story that were being made.
I'm not sure what I feel about Eva anymore, but I'm pretty sure I don't actually enjoy the series anymore.

That's why the Kare Kano anime tails off indecisively the way it does; however, the manga goes on far too long for its material, and frankly the anime has the better balance in the end. I see no reason whatever for a remake of it, though.

With the insane amount of success 3.0 is receiving, I'm becoming convinced that Eva won't end anytime soon. I don't think Anno will ever hit George Lucas status and dish out Episodes 5.0-7.0, but we may get spinoffs up the butthole. The 14 year time skip already endows so many possibilities. Any spinoffs probably wouldn't bug me too much, I'll end up hyping them to death and flinging money at them eventually. What matters is that the legacy of NGE will always be great and the original work will always be a masterpiece.

I really hope he won't do this. As much as I love rebuild, and as much I want this series to be successful, I don't want it to get raped. And I do hope to see at least one new series or movie from Anno, before he retires.

The shock, disorientation, and mystery of the time jump is an essential component of Q. It should be preserved going forward. I understand wanting to fill in the blanks, but that's not an impulse that should always be satisfied. Would I love it if Anno published a 300 page book explaining the meaning and history behind everything that happens in EoE? Sure, but he'd be minimizing the original work in the process. It's not worth it just to scratch an itch.

EVANGELION 3.0+1.0 - THIS IS (NOT) FINAL
:D

Edit 1: Split this off into a thread of its own, because it does seem to be a question worth asking. Will merge with any older threads on this discussion in due time- Ursus

Kind of a promise for more Eva, if it's worded that way. The forum would explode.

Doubtful. Anno is probably sick and tired of Evangelion, and now that he's created an entirely new body based off his old work, he probably wants to move on to something new and different after coming up with a suitable conclusion to his work.

I would hesitate to hasten to the conclusion that Anno is tired of Evangelion. While I would love to see what he goes on to do next-- and I think all of us would-- I wouldn't say that I'd be sad to see more Eva, or that Anno is putting it away for good.

He's been working on Evangelion for a long time, and the Rebuild of Evangelion/New Theatrical Edition project will have lasted five years longer than the tentative initial plan. That's a whole decade of life spent on this show. Closure is something I'd say he's seeking - and I'm sure that he's looking for some sense of closure with this work in terms of what it means to him and his life.

Come to think of it, this is matter for a new thread of its own.

Maybe Anno may look over a say Rebuild series that covers the 14 year gap, but not be too too involved in it. In all honesty tho, I don't think there will be another 26 episode series.

I know this is silly but maybe the reason they call it One More Final in EoE is because Final happened before it? Perhaps One More Final is the epilogue no matter what the continuity/timeline/reality.

I guess this means end and the beginning are one and the same.

Maybe everything begins and ends with an Impact?
