Not gonna upset my ears with fandubs either.
Dubs in generall tend to be a big controversy, amateur dubs are not helping the cause here..

It's not that horrible. Still futile though.

One glaring error is Asuka exclaiming "It's an Angel!" when the Mk. 04b activates.

Surprisingly, it's actually quite good......for a fandub. Still prefer subs any day of the week, primarily cause the actors are taking directions directly from Anno/Tsurumaki etc.
Among the people who use the Internet, many are obtuse. Because they are locked in their rooms, they hang on to that vision which is spreading across the world. But this does not go beyond mere ‘data’. Data without analysis [thinking], which makes you think that you know everything. This complacency is nothing but a trap. Moreover, the sense of values that counters this notion is paralyzed by it.

And so we arrive at demagogy. - Hideaki Anno, 1996

That fandub wasn't bad at all! The sound job was actually pretty impressive. Do people usually build the sound from the ground up with fandubs?

You have to. You have no access to the music and effects track. The best you can do is put the music back in via the OST.

This is a really solid, polished effort. I was pleasantly surprised. The actress playing Asuka, in particular, really shines here. And the sound mixing is excellent.

A few small critiques, though:

- The female actors do a markedly better job than the male actor; his voice feels a little flat for the role and the situation.

- At times it can be hard to distinguish between Asuka's voice and Mari's. The actresses sound very similar. I would have opted for a different take on Mari. Maybe I would have chosen a British accent of some sort, given that she's supposed to be British. (Come to think of it, I'm surprised the official English dubs haven't gone in that direction).

That was a pretty good dub.

Biggest differences between the original and fandub is the original has a better plethora of ambient sounds.

Also you just can't pass up using "God's Message" track from the OST.
Nope.

Yeah, this wasn't bad at all. Only problem was Kaworu at the end but really nice job. Also Asuka saying "Where's Shinji when you need him?!" was pretty poignant for me. Without any translation in the Japanese version, I thought she was insulting him becuse he was inside that cross thing. But that line of dialogue is telling me she has no beef with him, when she very easily could. But I guess I'd have to know it better in context with the movie.

Isn't "Baka-Shinji" more a disguised term of endearment than an insult at this point?

Image Look at that blush, she's not being true to her feelings!
