Given the relationship between the next episode preview in Ha and the film that came out this weekend, I would take anything in Q's next time preview as pure misdirection.

According to the JP Wikipedia page, 08+02 is pink on the right and red on the left.

I would be pretty disappointed if 4.0 is (again) about resetting the world.
I think that we (and Kaworu) learned the hard way in 3.0 that Anno doesn't want us to reset and live in the past. He wants us to live on instead and find the value in what we have left.
If somebody tries the reset in 4.0, the heads will roll imo.
I would much rather have Anno show me Shinji somehow accepting the world he lives in (and the world accepting him) in a creative and non-boring way. I'm pretty sure it's easy-peasy for a director of his format.
edit:
Was thinking about who could bring a bit of light into Shinji's life now that everything's gone to hell and it dawned on me...
Sakura Suzuhara. She's in a semi-good age, she's cute, and it seems that she already showed some compassion for him.

The one thing that all of these movies did, the only thing the Rebuild movies with their vastly different styles have in common, is that neither of them did what a huge part of the audience wanted them to.
I wanted to try harvesting the rice
I wanted to hold Tsubame more
I wanted to stay together forever with the boy I like

The problem is how is Shinji going accept what he has caused, and be accepted by others, and it won't feel like a cop out/ Shinji bieng let off easy. "Wow I feel really bad about almost killing everyone, and killing a lot of people, but now I accept it, and can move on and be happy, and I hope you all can accept me after I killed a bunch of your loved ones due to the issues I used to have." "Of course. We can now accept and forgive you." That's a pretty damn lame, and narritivly unsatisfying. But on the other hand how can Shinji be happy and be accepted in the world when he has all the Guilt and hatred for what he's done? I don't figure on a reset, but I don't see how that's supposed to work.
I'm not sure what I feel about Eva anymore, but I'm pretty sure I don't actually enjoy the series anymore.

The question is considering how bad what he did is, how big must his act be to truly earn his redemption? Shinji may have to do a Redemption equals Death.
I'm awful at predicting Eva's plot. About the only thing I feel safe in saying is that somehow Shinji ends up back in Unit-01. And for irony it's Misato who shoves him in. Actually It'd be intresting if Shinji ends up like Asuka was in the original movies. They put his comatose self in the Eva to keep him safe, and that is the place he finds hope, and the will to live. Damn we need a thread for our almost fan fiction speculation. Granted I haven't been right yet about Eva's plot.

Just confirmed that the symbol in Final's title is NOT pronounced when narrator-Misato reads the title out. Great...

so no resolution of exactly which musical symbol it is (or whether this is another of Anno's punalicious film titles, depending how you parse a colon).

All I will (can) say about 4.0 is I have a feeling we'll get our happy ending. But by Christ we (along with the characters) will have to bloody well earn it.
The highs seem all the more higher when you been in the depths. And I think a Rebuild-era Anno understands that.
And I dont even think it will be a classically happy ending like Shinji carrying Asuka through a newly-restored Tokyo-3 into the sunset or something.
Im envisioning something, tonally speaking, like Re-Take's ending.

SO THERE I WAS BEING KUBO, WHEN THE EDITORS CAME IN AND WERE LIKE "YOU NEED TO DO MORE THAN PANELS OF WHITE PILLARS AND BLACKGROUNDS!" AND I WAS LIKE "FUCK YOU, I'M KUBO!" SO THEY WERE LIKE "WELL HOW ABOUT SOMEBODY DYING?" AND I WAS LIKE "FUCK YOU, I'M KUBO!" AND I MADE LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY. I LOVE MY LIFE.

i agree. i dont think anno is a troll like people say. i think that rebuild is gonna end in a simplier happier way then the original series did. im expecting a simple good defeats evil ending where Shinji reedeems himself. i think mari and Asuka will survive at least too
Assuming that the preview holds true, I think we are indeed going to see Mari and Asuka double pilot FrankenEva, given that the original plan for Mari in 2.0 was to have her share an entry plug with Asuka at some point.
I'd really love for this to happen because they have a fantastic dynamic, but I assume pretty much everything is up in the air at this point given the transition from 2.0 to 3.0.
