I'll wait until I get a couple of detailed synopsis from multiple sources before passing judgment. Even a little detail left out can affect you perception of everything. I remember the first synopsis I read for 2.0 they didn't realize Asuka was alive.

So in the original Rei is an angel, and dies, then comes back different. In Rebuild Asuka nearly dies, comes back as an angel, then dies. Interesting.

Course as EOE and Kawrou showed, in Eva dead doesn't mean we'll never see them again.
