If I'm remembering correctly, Eva "handguns" only featured in the original series during the battle with Leliel. I'd be surprised to see that one pop up in Rebuild, though. I take the point about it making them look less imposing. This new Eva seems somewhat sleeker than the other models, which may explain why it uses a less flashy weapon. If it belongs to Mari, an offensive strategy based on speed and stealth would make sense.

I know not this "Nardo". Wikipedia informs me that it "is a town and comune of 31,185 inhabitants and comune in the southern Italian region of Apulia, in the province of Lecce." If this is the Nardo you were referring to, then no, I don't find it stealthy at all. It is easily locatable in southern Italy.

Maybe Strato is referring to Leonardo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles but I'm not sure about it. Nardo is the Italian name of a Pokemon character too, Alder, but it doesn't seem to be really fitting, also it would make little sense unless Strato is Italian (I understand that they kept the original name for the English version while other European countries changed it differently).

Talking about the handgun again, I wonder what's the advantage of using a similar weapon with a giant robot, Lilin-sized ones offer obvious concealment advantages but a giant one just seems to be there because they can make it (It reminds me of SRW too, G-handgun anyone?).
EDIT: could it be a backup weapon mounted on the Eva itself pretty much like the progressive knife?

The trailer made me hope it could be something similar to the Xth Form of Haseo from .hack//G.U. - moving around at high speeds and going shoot-crazy. To me, that'd fit her skill level and her more berserk style. (Though dual-wielding pistols would be more like the Xth form, and from the trailer it doesn't look like it'll be close to Xth Form's movements at all...)

Well, she did manage to enter Japan and launch an Eva behind Nerv's back. Granted, that was in spite of the Shinji thing, but she can hardly be blamed for that. Shinji's wussiness magnetizes hot girls. Not her fault.

On the handgun thing, maybe it's utilized to combat a flying Angel, as was (thought to be) the case in NGE.

Saw the trailer today during lunchtime and loved it! Can't wait its' release down here!

1.) The pink, many-eyed EVA shown, would that be EVA-08 (mentioned earlier during RoE 2.0 = the "definitive EVA")?

Yes it is, though it was redesigned slightly.

As for unit 07 we haven't seen it.

I don't know about the "definitive Eva" thing, but most people around here are assuming that the pink Eva is Unit-08 and that Mari is its pilot. The EvaWiki article on Unit-08 seems to think so, too.
