I think the way End of Evangelion's ending is perfect the way it is. However, if you had to give it an ending song, which one would you give?
My first choice is the strings version of Jesus bleibet meine Freude. This was found on some releases of EoE like the laserdisc one.
My other choice is Star from Evangelion Vox. It's weird, but I think the theme really fits EoE in a weird way. And apparently, according to the album, its melody is based on the next episode theme, which makes it fitting to put it on the last episode of the series.

Reason why i thought it might be appropiate for an ending credit is that, if i recall correctly, it always seemed to play whenever a significant event for Shinji was ocurring (A part in ep4 and the kiss in ep 15 particularly come to mind)

I can't remember the song though, and the DVD's not in my apartment...
