EVA EVA EVA
We gonna see some Yui/Kyoko/Naoko kickin' more ass in these movies AMIRITE?
Haunted dolls? If Rozen Maiden ever taught us anything it would be to look under it's dress.

(Yesss, another oppurtunity to bitch)
Probably more than what's healthy. With the promise of abundant CG, fights will probably be long and plenty. My quarrel here is that fighting 3D-shapes aren't nearly as entertaining to watch as the painstakingly hard-to-animate 2D originals from the Eva we know. I've seen GitS and it's likes, and it sure was entertaining. Then I discovered this classic from 1996, and it's beyond entertaining. It both hurts (in a positive way) and it amazes me to watch that, and we probably won't get any of it in the new series. We'll just see how that'll turn out, but I'm not holding my breath.
'Cuz I'm Mister Brightside. :?

I'm praying for the subtle 3D animation, with hand-drawn taking the head in fighting scenes. You guys know what I mean, animation with a little bit of 3d to give it a more... perspective view, for lack of knowing what to say. Like what they did in the ballroom in Beauty and The Beast.

I hope he isn't reffering to that absurd, ridiculous theory that Naoko is in Zerogoki.
I'M TRYING TO CONVERT YOU TO COMMUNISM WITH MY GODLESS SOCIALIST INTERNET BRAIN WAVES YOU CAPITALIST PIG DOG
Of Naoko is in UNIT-00, that's why it hates Rei, and why Ritsuko hates Rei. Ritsuko was supposed to pilot it, but Rei got the assignment instead because Gendo said she was too fat for the plug suit. But, because she's a masochistic woman, she loved Gendo for it, and took her rage out on Rei.
Or at least, that's what these new movies will tell us. Anno told me so in a dream that I just made up.

We can only hope.
Hey, with 3D CGI, we can have thrice the fighting! As long as nothing's hand-drawn, it won't cost us shit!
Seems to be the mindset of most anime directors.
Well, as long as it's morbidly brutal, we might be fine anyway.

No angels and no ghosts, no real victories to toast
If you believe that this is true then I must ask;
to what end do you proceed?

Yeah, but this is GAINAX, and if you notice, they didn't seem to feel that way in Die Buster.
I read somewhere (I don't remember where, I guess that means it's not true unless someone can point me to a source) that he was doing consultant work on Die Buster, and I know he came on to do story boards from episode 4.
I only remember one scene where I saw them put in a shot that was pretty much totally CG. I seriously am begining to have more faith in Anno over this project as I hear more, and think more about this.
But who know's, maybe I'm deluding myself.

you do realize that all anime is done on the computer these days? The days of cells went when Fujitsu stopped making them several years ago. That's not to say people still don't hand draw things, but with everything scanned on a computer, the CG is even easier to incorporate. As opposed to the CG shots in something like Cowboy Bebop.
Handdrawn is handdrawn, and it's what I'll take over 3D shapes (pretty much) anytime, wether it's in digital or on plastic. Wacoming is totally fine too.
Didn't see Diebuster. But speaking of which; has there been any kind of word the past years when a satisfactory DVD-release of Gunbuster will see the day?

Yes, Mangle's license to Gunbsuter finally expired. Bandai has it now and the DVD has a release date of Feb. 20th, 2007.
Rejoice, glory is ours. Our young men have not died in vain. Their graves need no flowers. The tapes have recorded their names.

Negative! Primative! Limited! I let you live.
But I gave you life.
What else could you do?
To do what was right.
I'm perfect, are you?

Personally, I'd be fine with a slightly toned down "Hellsing OVA" style format. With using the CG when needed, but not overusing it to an extreme. Let's be honest, if Anno is going to make this how he "wanted EVA to be" then I'm sure Rebuild will be oozing with CH, but it can be done in a good way. EVA is filled with "battle scenes" and things that will need CG, but it's not like it's going to look like a video game.
As long as they are smart about it, I have no problems with this. My real concern is the music, actually. My worry is they stray away from the same style as the last. I hope they have the music similar to the End of Evangelion soundtrack, but we'll see.
