Yeah, I wasn't sure what to make of BOTH either. I thought Shikinami could regain some dignity in 3.0, not lose it. :tongue:

Female characters in anime don't have dignity. They have E cups instead.

Can't be that much worse than the fat suit from Episode 10. :tongue:

Though, the cat suit does look a little ridiculous. Guess we'll have to see what happens and how its handled. I've seen poorer shows decently pull off worse costumes.

As for Asuka's new suit: it makes no sense whatsoever. If she's supposed to be in an Eva than why is her face covered up, is it because she's supposed to be able to survive in a vacuum? In either case, shouldn't her helmet be large enough to contain an oxygen delivery apparatus, and shouldn't the rest of her suit be thick enough to contain the climate control systems necessary to keep her from freezing and/or boiling to death? It takes more than a mask to survive in space, after all.

Oxygen and life support might be contained in a backpack we don't see.

The suit's thickness isn't that much of a problem. NASA and other space agencies are working on "skinsuits," and they come out looking fairly similar to their sci-fi counterparts. What with composites and aerogels, a suit doesn't need to be thick to be warm/protective.

The plugsuits could already function as stopgap EVA suits ( :tongue:

), so the biggest challenge (if there even is one) is to connect them to helmet units.

Or for the real reason: FANSERVICE, THE HELL WITH PRACTICALITY.

Regarding the helmet: she's already a catgirl because of the clips. The helmet just makes her catgirl squared. It's a little early to complain that it makes no sense. It makes no sense that she's in space with a duct taped suit. I bet seeing more than ten seconds of film will shed some light.

"Rebuild" not being the official title was a germane response to essel. It was not used, like all those other "Re-"s; it was abandoned before the first film came out. (Your personal tastes are irrelevant to Khara. ;p )

And Rei isn't the "First Children" in NME. She's the First Girl. :p

You were talking about "products". A bonus feature is part of a product, but unless sold alone it isn't the product itself.

But seriously, the T-shirts don't mean what you think they mean. The official title hasn't changed from when it was first announced years ago, and if you don't know (or refuse to believe) that the films are called ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版 you will lose your footing in the Japanosphere VERY fast. The word "rebuild" gets bandied about in reference to the films, but it's not a project title in the slightest. It's more of a buzz word (bonus points for being in English) to indicate what they're doing, "rebuilding" Eva for the current generation. I'm guessing you can't read Japanese at all, so of course seeing "REBUILD" pops out at you, but the facts are what they are. You have to deal with it, same as I have to deal with the Anglosphere calling the movies by their production title. :p

But in all honesty, I think I know how this could get worse (give or take a fetish), they may ask her to do this to the right-rear side of her loading tram right before launch. Or maybe that spiffy car Misato was driving them in earlier or the plug truck. Thankfully, a cup is involved, so the shame would be minimal.

I love it. Apart from nekomimi it reminds me of Nausicaä's flightsuit of all things for some reason (srsly wtf what is wrong with my mental schemas).
