Thanks Tines! So it is from the BBC's "Frozen Planet". I think it will show in my local cable soon too.

This is eye-opening and jaw-droppingly impressive stuff they did. I wonder how they could have predicted where a brinicle would form. (I know it was explained in the BBC article but still...) Also the fact that down-flowing brine could freeze even the sea water nearby means the brine water must have been very cold indeed. And it is amazing to see the Antarctic sea floor is so teeming with starfish and sea urchins, which apparently could not move fast enough to avoid the creeping freeze (which seems like watching Day After Tomorrow).
I never thought I would come back to Evangelion after EoE,
