Notice how Mari and Asuka are next to each other and in similar poses...I've got a hypothesis that at the start of 3.0, Asuka is a depressed mess - IIRC, she's been forced to re-live discovering her mother's corpse and hurt as a result of Shinji's failure to save her from the 9th Angel, but Mari pulls her out of that depressed hole.

Ok, if that was the case, Mari would be no longer Mari, but officially mary-sue². She then could bring Yui back to her human form, reverse the second impact and would bring eternal peace to the world of EVA.

I had a similar thought. Although I get the feeling it won't be a conscious effort on Mari's part to fix Asuka, but the effect of a rivalry between them forces Asuka to cope.

Don't blame me for reading a little too much into this. The day I posted that comment, I was doing a short English essay on the most significant/symbolic stage directions of the play that I'm studying for my Leaving Cert, so my brain was kinda geared towards finding hidden meanings behind random stuff.

Also, I like Asuka/Mari shipping.

The guy on the far left looks like Keel and two of the figures in the middle look like people in snow gear. Remember the 3.0 preview where it had Gendo, Fuyutsuki and Donkey? Maybe it's from that, although I don't know why they'd be shorter.

Seems like a valid assumption. I haven't read the entire thread, but is there a reason everyone is making the default assumption that these are *all* Eva characters? If the colored silhouettes of Faye, Spike, etc, are accurate to those characters, my next course of action would be to match main-character silhouettes for Gainax's other popular shows.

They're not. While Jet being on the far left also struck me, Spike is not that short.

My own guess would be other members of SEELE, as the girl aside, none are short enough to be Children.

To add, why would they have a significant amount of Eva characters instead of an equal amount of both? And why would it be on the back of an Evangelion store, instead of any normal merch store?

I'll vouch for a mixture of Bethany Base staff, flashback characters, and maybe a couple of Seele people. Law of conversation of detail, and all.
