Saw this on ALS
From AnimeNation News

The Playstation 2 adventure game "Secret of Evangelion" will be released in Japan on December 21st. The original story game will be an alternate retelling of the end of the Evangelion story staring NERV investigator Kenzaki Kyouya and Kaga Hitomi, a research scientist involved in the creation of the Evangelion dummy plug system. Famitsu Magazine hosts screenshots from the upcoming game.

I fail to be suprised.

But I'd kind of like to know what's up with the cover art showing one of the US-built Evas instead of 01 or 02, yet no sign of Toji.

I noticed this when I was browsing amazon.co.jp earlier today. I wonder if either/both of the new characters are "omens", if you know what I mean. </B.S. so I can say I called it first just in case it ends up being true>

I'm guessing the game might focus around what went down in America, and an investigation into what happend at the test site for Eva-03 (or Barb :D )

This is the worst idea ever.

Ever.

EDIT: And no, that comment does not take into account all the various Evaneglion hentai games.

I think its far from the worst idea ever, I think the Detective Evangelion game takes that prize. The idea is a decent one, viewing the End from another perspective, thats generally how a video game of a series should be familiar settings yet different in some way.

It's a good idea in theory, but then again my theory is that it's going to be similar to an Adventure game similar to something like Monkey Island/Broken Sword/Beneath A Steel Sky...

My theories are usually wrong...

So yeah, if it is anything but that it will be pretty bad.

I'm still hoping they'll announce a release of the Eva PSP Game outside of Japan...

I don't know why people are saying this is such a bad idea... the American produced Evangelion Units (03 and 04) didn't recieve a lot of focus outside of the episodes leading up to Touji's assignment as the 4th Children. These games will give us insight into them, as well as the things that went on in the background... possibly some SEELE stuff too, as I imagine investigating them will be a part of this whole scenario.

Where there any other Eva Units produced in the USA? Or just 03 and 04? (I'm refering to the Harpies. :0) The fact that the cover-art has one of them on it, as mentioned previously, hints that the production of those Units may be a prime focus of this game.

Hell, even if it isn't I'm still excited.

This is gonna be ace. : D Anything that gives us some insight into the series' workings is a good thing in my books.

Just looked over the scans... Kaji... too good. Just too good.

Ain't we getting into some of that groundless speculation here?

Where there any other Eva Units produced in the USA? Or just 03 and 04? (I'm refering to the Harpies. :0)

The harpies were produced at seven locations around the globe. At the time of the show, only seven countries are know to have active ties with Seele.

- Germany is the base of Seele and the site of the Nerv's Third Branch. (Probably Berlin and Hamburg, respectively.)
- H.I. Committeemen come from France, U.K., U.S., and Russia.
- China produced EVA-08. The MAGI-06 system is in Beijing.
- The First Branch in Massachusetts produced EVA-03 and has MAGI-04.
- The Second Branch in Nevada produced EVA-04 and went bye-bye.
- And, of course, there is Japan, with Nerv Headquarters in Tokyo-3 and an auxilliary facility in Matsushiro, which has MAGI-02.

Hence, the seven sites around the world were probably:

- First Branch, Massachusetts
- Third Branch, Germany (Hamburg?)
- Matsushiro, Japan
- Beijing, China
- United Kingdom
- France
- Russia

I'm personally loving the idea of this game. There's only so far you can go with the concept of Shinji, Rei, Asuka and all the other people based in Japan.

Looks to me like we're still in Japan...

Indeed, for some stupid reason I thought this was actually based in America. I edited my post when I realised, but obviously left that bit out. :< My bad. But still, the point remains... focusing on Misato/Kaji and these other two characters as well as the other behind the scenes stuff, and production of the Dummy Plug is more interesting than the prospect of another game based on the crazy antics of the Eva pilots themselves.

In regards to getting into groundless speculation, then I'd have to agree. But I guess it doesn't really do any harm. I guess I worded what I said wrong... I *hope* this will give some insight.

...

I should really look over my posts before I post them, shouldn't I? >_>

Interesting is an understatement, looks like they turned it into some crappy standard mech based anime with space aliens or something. That gold Eva made me want to punch the screen, and the graphics look like utter crap as well.

Uh... That's the other upcoming Eva game. The one with the tentacle-waving Mana lookalike.

Alternate ending? it would be so much cooler if..

main character 1: We finally solved the mystery!

main character 2: Lets live happily ever after!

suddenly GNR shows up. Cuts to a horrified look on their faces before... SPLOOSH! and they're puddles of LCL.
God, Apparently you all have been discussing Q since November. Catching up on the discussion is harrowing.

Why can't we just have any more good mech games for the PS2 before the PS3 hits stateside? We never got the NGE games, we got a few Armored Core and Front Mission games, but not the coolest ones. I guess I will just have to learn Japanese...

Or wait for fansubs. But those are too few and far between.

*is still anxiously awaiting the release of the fan-translated SRW Alpha*

But really, the fact that this game looks a bit AU makes the pills a little bit easier to swallow. Unless I forgot about a bloody image of Gendo from the original series, along with that golden EVA, Ritsuko pwning Misato, and the steryotipical hentai girl, tentacles and all.

Again, that's the other upcoming Eva game. I'm pretty sure we've got a topic about it already.

"Secret of Evangelion" is coming for the PSP. It will released next 28/6, with new events added, a quiz to unlock artworks and so on. I have pre-ordered mine. The game doesn't seem as impressive as "Evangelion 2: Another Cases", but it's an Eva game anyway.

I hope that the other games, "Detective Evangelion" and "Evangelion Battle Orchestra" get released in PSP as well, so I can play them. :D
