:w00t: Spielberg announced Jurassic Park IV at Comic-Con over the weekend!

Why aren't we discussing this yet?! :impatient:

This is the first bit of news of JP:IV we've had since that hoax we had some years ago.

Because Jurassic Park 4 has been announced as far back as 2003 and next to no progress has been made on it.

Why not just trash the current canon and reboot the series? Seriously, who even remembers the original three anymore? I sure as hell don't.
NGE was a damned good anime
EoE was an anime masterpiece
And Rebuild is nothing short of epic
Long live the EVAs!!

Why not remake Trespasser?

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the technology.

To those who rant to reboot it - if you're age really is 19 that's why you'd dont remember it.

Anywho... I'll get interested in Jurassic Park 4 when something is actually happening in regards to the film.

As for my thoughts on the trilogy- Spielberg's original is a classic that is still one of the best movie experiences I've ever. He just had the skills & balls to work through David Koepp's lacking script.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park is a stupid flick that once again works thanks to Spielberg's skill instead of the story- which is loaded with stupid crap like the 90 pound teenage gymnist defeating a raptor. It's good but not great.
Jurassic Park III is just kinda there.

I agree with all of that, but I can't help but feel all nostalgic about IV news. The announcement just kinda took me off guard.

I will believe it when I see a trailer (not just some teaser) and screenshots

this thing has been start-and-stop for years now, I do not know what would srsly change that

and it's not like I am 100% against it because the original is one of my all-time favorite films, the sequels never measured up IMO but the last one was pretty good with Joe Johnston's help

I actually would not mind if they rebooted it because a lot of stuff was changed or left out from the original novel

the novel was also far more horror-oriented and gory than the 1993 film adaptation, which I think could be a potential wonderful change of pace

P.S. For those wanting to discuss a matter with yours truly not pertaining to the general topic at hand, PM me. Please and thank you.

trolololololololol.

Ontopic: I wasn't really into the Jurassic Park series. Although, the thing I really am looking forward to is the Adventures of Tintin from Spielberg.

He has a point there, Xard. If you wanna see whiny fanboys, just look at the whole shitstorm surrounding Sonic the Hedgehog.

The JP fan community is weird. Most of them enjoy the second film over the third simply because the dinosaurs are more accurately portrayed in there then they were in JP3. (I have issues with both sequel films, but I am of the opinion that JP3 did better than TLW:JP in making the movie feel more like a roller-coaster ride than... whatever it was TLW:JP was trying to do.) So, I don't think they're going to be pissed simply if JP4 is a "poor movie", but rather if they keep putting teeth in their Pteranodon designs or whatever.

I hope it actually happens this time. They didn't say anything they haven't said in ten years. Although I was hoping they'd wait a little longer, my brother and I have a very cool idea for a Jurassic Park 4, so it's too bad if we don't get to make it.

Anyway, the first one is a classic for me. Maybe one of Spielberg's best film. The second one is very well made but overall has too many stupid moments. The third one is just about as stupid as the second one but at least it has a sense of fun to it while I think the second one just took itself too seriously.

I am still holding out for Jurassic Park VII, the turning point of the franchise. The velociraptors have continued to evolve, getting to the point where the series takes place in a dystopia where they can not only talk (they only speak Russian, though) and have thumbs ("Oh shit!"), but they also shoot lasers out of their eyes (obviously).

I love the series, I remember when my dad took me to see the second movie when it came out and I love it. I still enjoy the second movie and I think it's a good sequel. The 3rd movie could have been better if it took place on a park since I always feel like the 3rd movie did not feel the same that the first two movies did.

I still hope to see JP4 get made soon. It's one of the longest movie in development hell at the moment next to the new Spawn movie and the Evangelion movie.

If Spielberg directs this, I'll probably see it. If not, pass. Disappointed on Jurassic Park III (worse than "The Lost World: Jurassic Park"), never will continue onwards. ... besides, shouldn't anybody learn a lesson after 3 films? Stay away from the islands, that's all.
