Agreed, untested autopilot in charge of a weapon of mass destruction is probably something worth second-guessing. It's not like they had much of an alternative really, but still worth taking a moment to point out that it could just as easily kill the angel as help it kill them. For what it's worth she also does get on the bandwagon with the decision being correct when Shinji has his tantrum.

A more interesting question, to me at least, is to ask why she has such trepidations in the first place. In ep11 she seems downright thrilled that the Magi actually run the city for the puppet government of the city council. Given that outlook I don't understand at all why she'd have such reservations about the dummy system that she's willing to stand up to both Ritsuko and Gendo in separate incidents about it; in fact I'd rather expect she'd be happy to see it do it's thing.

So the question is what is it about the dummy system that throws her off? I'm thinking the old "dummy plug contains a clone (or at least part of one)" idea might have more traction than it's usually given around here. And it can't just be a brainjar sort of situation, either... the magi have biological brains too.

Yeah, I don't get her dummy system objections either. The alternative is to let Shinji die, so what choice is there? Again, Maya. Job. Bad. At. Really. Is. Her.

Say something to convince him to actually fight back. Keeping in mind that there's probably less concern from Gendo that Shinji is going to die than concern that Eva-01 will be lost.
