Well yeah, that goes without saying. Everything I post to Forced Perspective is shit. I'm going through with it anyway because rewatching it over last two weeks has brought it into better focus, enough that writing something of a brief commentary on it is possible.

Watched The Hurt Locker today. Seen it before, but still an above-average war film.

Adding this to the "Bunuel films I like" list.
I've yet to see it, mainly because it's not easily obtainable on DVD...

Really? I was kinda skeptical 'bout that one.

Watched I Am Legend for the first since it was in theaters. Despite the poopy ending and the weird looking vampires, I still really liked it. Well I really liked the first hour. As soon as the woman came into the picture (can't remember her name) I started to lose interest.

Also watched The Fighter. Great acting in that one.

You should give it a look. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen or anything, but it was fun and I have no regrets about having gone to see it.

I just saw that. Review coming tomorrow, most likely. I pretty much agree about the acting, but overall it was a pretty cliche boxing film.

Great idea somewhat wasted with shoddy characters.

SPOILER: Show
Creepy, but the whole "robot servant goes crazy and kills people" has been done to death. And the logic wasn't really there either, the robot's fail-safes against harming people can be over-ridden by a kid having a rant and turning it off and on again, boring.

For A Few Dollars More. Another fantastic western and on par with the other two members of the dollars trilogy.
As expected from TDSA.

Why? It is the only one of the four that was good because unlike the first three it was actually enjoyable.

Takashi Ishii's Black Angel 2: A revenge action film with its own distinct flavor that I would like to call brutal melancholy. Ishii's direction is fascinating, but doesn't quite hold it together in certain scenes. The cinematography is brilliant and I'm genuinely surprised that despite the weak characterization the drama was quite convincing.

I'm sure you loved the refrigerator scene...

Watched The Wrestler

I thought it was really good, and I heard a lot about Rourke's performance and it was definitely great. He was very convincing and I hope that whoever won that years oscar instead of him was amazing.

I didn't care for it. What I didn't like was the way bullet ants were portrayed. If they were siafu I'd buy it, but bullet ants? No, not how they attack. Besides, why bring down a whole movie based on one scene?

I was just joking, it might be the most hated scene in the movie so it would've been funny if you said you thought it was great or something :)

It's what that one scene does to the rest of the movie. Think about it. The man survives a nuke by hiding in a fridge and manages to not break every bone in his body when the fridge hits the ground. This man is friggin' Superman if you ask me! And yet we're supposed to be concerned about this guy's health every time he gets punched in the face? If he can survive a nuke and being spiked onto the ground inside a fridge like a football then I really don't feel an adrenaline rush when the same character is merely punched in the face by a bunch of Soviets. I don't care how close to the cliff the car comes. If Jones can survive a nuked fridge, then he can survive a car falling off the cliff. I don't care how many ants are around Jones, if he can survive his atoms being split inside the nuked fridge, then he can survive some ants picking on him.

As you can see because of the "logic" of that one nuked fridge scene, the same "logic" can be placed in other areas of the same movie, making it difficult for the action to be as amazing as it should have been.

Though, for what its worth, I did enjoy parts of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It's still is the worse of the Jones Tetralogy, though. ("Tetralogy" is the actual term for a series of four movies, TDSA.) I agree with TDSA that the ant scene was poorly done, though probably for different reasons. If it were one of the original films, you would have actually seen the ants tear flesh from bone. And the end death scene that is supposed to be trademark to every Indiana Jones movie was an epic fail, both within terms of special effects quality and basic concept.

The Bourne Identity.

Re-watching the Bourne Trilogy with my girlfriend because she hasn't seen them and has been complaining that I've been watching too much "artsy shit" which she doesn't like. Anyways, this one is mostly just a run of the mill spy thriller but the second two were great if I remember correctly.
