Censored the US verson? (Rei's nipple)

Small crap like this pisses me off to no freaking end. Do you know what else was censored in 1.11 and 2.22? (Been watching the Japan version for a long time)

Bet a giant Rei/Lilith will be censored next?

I haven't seen the Japan version. But, do you mean this nipple from the Funi release of 1.11 was missing?

I'm quite sure the US version contained no censorship whatsoever. It had nudity and everything. Why would they censor it? It's not like they're marketing it to kids.

They changed titles and text as far as I'm aware, but no editing of the content.

Yes, it is that scene. On my bluray version 1.11 they moved her body more to the left so we can't see the nipple.

It must just be you then because my copy of 1.11 didnt have that happen.

Haha! Let me explain.

Most televisions crop a little from side to side and up and down. Why this is done is beyond me. Most new model wide-screen televisions are better at keeping everything uncropped. My brother's 40" Samsung LCD series 6 630 left the entire picture uncropped. That framing is consistent on both the 1.01 copy, then 1.11 DVD and Blu-ray discs I saw on his Samsung. Many older model CTR TVs (4:3 tube-televisions) start cropping in on all sides for some reason, even with the black bars maintaining the wide-screen aspect ratio.

Also, if that were censorship, it would've been hilariously incompetent censorship, because you can still totally see the nipples.

Yeah, I didn't even notice the nipple until I saw it on my brother's wide-screen TV in friggin' HD BD. The tube set in my room had cropped it out completely. I was like "Oh, there's a nipple there in 1080p where I didn't think there was one before..."

Try messing around with the option of your TV, if you have the BD I suppose that you're using an HDTV, aren't you?

Did you know Rei's nipple is visible in the same scene in episode 5 of NGE? It's true, but it's impossible to see unless you're watching it on a computer or a recent TV of the right sort.

And how should they have done that? Clearvoyance as to how future TVs would work? I don't think there were any nipples shown in the original series (excluding EoE and the Director's cuts, of course, which had nipples all over the place)
Or wait, do you have a sceenshot?
