My theory is that SEELE's "True Evangelion" is not Mark.6 (why'd they give their ultimate weapon to someone they're sending to his death?)
but EVA 08 and that it will either replace or acompany the harpies.

I find that hard to believe, having Unit 01 being remodelled would be like turning Optimus Prime from a Firetruck to a Ferrari, sure it's a bit of an upgrade, but COME ON. It just breaks tradition, Eva Unit 01's been a big symbol of evangelion, the cross of science and technology and religious belief. Without Unit 01, Eva just isn't Eva.

The only way I think that Anno would be able to pull off such a stunt would be to make it in a way that Gurren Lagann did, when Kamina died. You'll remember him none the less but Simo takes up the flame and continues to be even MORE epic. So if Yui has to done the armor of the arbiter...I mean umm, Unit 08, then she better raise hell.

It's not in any way clear that that's Seele's intent for Kaworu at this time. If they are looking to create a "true god", a resurrected Adam (as opposed to their NGE goal of exploiting Lilith for Instrumentality purposes), then getting Kaworu killed would not really be in their interests.

Should we be? They'd need to have changed the mechanics of ATFs completely -- and, judging from the whole "Angels exploding into juice" thing, they've only made the mechanics more consistent. I believe Hyuga says that the dummy system can make an Eva deploy an ATF without a pilot present, so in all likelihood souls are still part of the equation.

It seems like one of those wait-and-see things.

Didn't Ursus make that big soul/Eva/Lilith/treaty thing? Unless that's been disproved, he raises the best points we've got so far to tie everything together, including how Mari is capable of piloting after her initial Eva has been blown up.

Eva-06: Extant. Piloted by Kaworu
Eva-07: Assumed. Piloted by ???
Eva-08: Extant. Piloted by ???


As neither Rei nor Mari have Evas; as we have the potential for five Evas to be running around; as Rei will almost certainly have a Quickening while leaving Eva-01; I propose that Mari will pilot Eva-07 and Rei will pilot Eva-08.

Yeah. After all, EVA still has it's head - it lost the head (and the other arm!) in the series and they still repaired it. I can't imagine Asuka in a 'Plot EVA', (She's more like the 'badass normal' amongst the EVA Pilots and, at least in Rebuild, proud of it.)and the Kyoko Issue will most likely still be adressed (The Doll is there)

As for 08 and 07... Yeah, Rei with the Plot thing and Mari with the fancy new design, that feels about right.
