I hadn't realized that Rei even WAS in this picture... I thought it only showed the 'real' ppl... maybe that's Rei II and Shinji only 'alluded' to her in his mental image not to insult Rei III who he was actually talking with at that Moment? It would make no sense to miss/ or "want to see again" a Person who's standing right in front of him. (There's no Kaworu either, but there's other dead ppl like Kaji who kicked the bucket way before Kaworu)

Oh and... Does any picture/fanart with Shinji's COMPLETE "Harem" exist? (Asuka, Misato, Mana, Mayumi, Mari, Kaworu AND Rei (or both Reis?)?)

Mari's comment about Shinji having saved them all when he was actually initiating Third Impact. Did she KNOW that someone was going to intervene? They might know each other ore evewn work together.

That line has been confusing me for a long time. I guess at that point, Zeruel is pretty much destroyed, which Mari certainly thinks is a good thing - but Unit God is initiating Third Impact right above her head. Does she think that's a good thing, too? Is she aware that a human-controlled Third Impact might be what both Nerv and Seele want? Given how she just advised Shinji to stop hating his life and enjoy it - a message completely counter to the Instrumentality Seele endorse or the nostalgic, self-destructive path that (at least in NGE) Gendou's after - I can't imagine that she'd approve of it. Does she just not get what was going on?

The only way that line makes sense to me is if she's pre-emptively referring to Kaworu.

She does refer to the smell of the guy who saves them being different (different from what?), though. They way this line rhymes to her remarks after crashing into Shinji sure make it seem like she's referring to him.

If it's about Kaworu, then:

a, In some shape or from, Kaworu has been to Earth already, and he and Mari have met. This might also work as an explanation for Kaworu already having knowledge about Shinji, having met him too, previously. Would be beyond dumb, but plausible.

b, Mari was on the Moon-base, and she met Kaworu there. Hmmm, well, why not?

If she means the way Shinji smells, then it's a point harped on several times in the movie: Shinji smells like Rei smells like Unit 01 smells like LCL smells like blood. There's actually no reason to suppose that Mari herself would smell different - or Kaworu, for that matter, they both spent time bathing in the stuff.

As inane as it is, this might make sense. Enokido's memos do hint that either sequel theory is true, Shinji and Kaworu really have met before.

That would mean she's working with Seele more closely than even Gendou and Fuyutsuki are.

Actually, that line does seem to suggest that she's talking about Shinji; Kaworu probably does smell of LCL but that hasn't been referred to the way Shinji and Rei's smells have. What a clusterfuck.

Shinji happened to be in it too, pointing at someone or something. I believe it was for some candy/food merchandising.

I thought that was Yui. Isn't the shot immediately following it one of Shinji holding a red ball in his hand (fanon: one of Asuka's hair beads)?

It's Kyoko.

About 24 minutes into EoE:
Maggoty Asuka -> Waves -> Kyoko (like the image, but you can see her torso, she's reaching out like to hug someone) -> Little Asuka with stuffed monkey in the forest -> Kyoko (the above image) -> Little Asuka's hand reaching out and Kyoko's hand reaching down.
