Not for Monkey's eyes.....

I have started this topic in relation to Monkeys recent front page post.
His birthday is coming up on March 7th, and I thought that it might be nice to band together and show some apreciation for all the work he's done over the years.
The item I put forward to you is this:
Image
This figure costs 13,000yen, roughly $110US.
For this to work we need a few things:

1) A trusted forum member currently residing in Japan, as the company will not ship outside of this country. This person would need to help with ordering the figure and then shipping it to the US.

2) Another person - preferably a forum moderator, to handle collection of donations through paypal or something similar. I don't really have any experience with stuff like this but i'm sure we can work something out.

3) And lastly, we need people who would be willing to donate. I myself do not have a credit card of my own, but if we can pull something together i would be sure to borrow the use of one of my parents cards to throw some money in the pot. I'm sure a lot of you could do the same.

If anyone here has a decent understanding of Japanese, please take a look at this site: http://www.bearbrick.com/wf2006w_2/

So there is my rather bold plan. Questions, comments, suggestions, discussion, thankyou.

$110 is around £60-70 correct? I have absolutely no problem with paying that at all, although I would need a guiding hand to help me with using paypal because I have never used a system like that before online.

You have my word that money can be put aside for this, the only problem now is the Japanese side of things. I can't help you there.

Alright, I've had a look at that cresent-shop.com, it would bump the price up a bit depending on weight but at this point looks like our best option.
13,000 + 5% tax = 13,650
13,650 + 20% fee = 16,380
Plus i'm guessing about 2000 yen for shipping and we have roughly 18,500 yen or 160 us dollars. Not cheap, but if we have a lot of people pitching in it shouldn't be a problem. I have asked them for a quote so we should have a more accurate figure soon anyway.

I also created a paypal account which was quite easy really, we could use that or if people aren't comfortable with that i can give Reichu a pm, i'm sure noone will have trouble trusting her.

And Monkey, I kind of suspected you wouldn't heed my warning but you could have at least pretended you didn't know anything.

It's Anno, kung-fu style!

In any case, I really wish I could help out, but right now I'm out of a job. If I get started up somewhere else and get some money coming in, I'd love to pitch in.

Just got the email back from cresent shop, and it turns out the figure would not be delivered untill may. What is everyones feelings on this? Should we continue on with the original plan?
