What do you people think?

I ask this because Asuka almost killed 8 MP Evangelions in EoE with just 1 "regular" Evangelion...

I think the point of the MP Eva's was to drain Unit 02's energy and then devour it. Plus they regenerate so it doesn't matter if their that strong....

Since their S2 organs allow them to regenerate, any injuries the MP Eva incurred from Unit-02 could be healed or shortcutted. Plus, they were aware that Unit-02 was running on internal battery power - so they more or less 'played easy' and allowed Asuka to have her way for a little while. Ultimately, Asuka failed because she did not destroy the cores of MP Evas. Take note that if she succeeded in destroying some or all of their cores, it is reasonable to believe Seele's version of instrumentality would then be impossible to carry out as it was in '26.

I don’t think they were weak at all. They just gave Asuka the soft sell until she was out of power and then moved in for the kill.

The early phase that battle would be dominated by Asuka for a couple reasons:

- She's fighting smarter, or at least more aggressively. The MP Evas just don't really use any effective battle tactics.

- The MP Evas don't use their AT fields. No idea why, but they don't. Asuka definitely puts her's to work in the fight.

Either they let Asuka feel like she was winning for a bit, a sadistic (and potentially masochistic) move....or they're about as smart as a brick. In both cases they always had the upper hand, but that's because they aren't dependent on batteries (or a cable) and can regenerate.

Other than that, there's no reason as to why they should be less powerful than a "regular" Eva (as they can't really be called "regular", as few as there are). It's probably the other way around, or possibly dead even if you take away the regeneration and limitless battery.

It seems likely that it would at least somehow alter 3rd Impact.

You're not giving Seele enough credit in terms of their ability to adjust. Remember they originally planned on having 12 MP Evas, yet 9 suited their purposes without any apparent difficulty, at least until Yui got involved.

Actually it looks like they were simply giving it their best shot since they were running out of time and they probably wanted to stop Gendo from using their plan; I'm not sure that they could make further changes to their plan.

Mass produced models of any robots are always weaker than the originals. It's an anime law.

By gundam logic Zerogouki should be the baddest thing in the series, even more so after the mid-season upgrade.

No, everything up until Unit 05 can be godly. Unit 02's the fastest, though, due to being red.

Damn Asuka could have won if she just put some fire stencils on unit 02!

Most likely, the MP Evas are physically stronger. They just have every technical advantage. The difference is 1) Unit 02 is piloted by a human being, not a Dummy Plug, and 2) SHE IS GOING FUCKING APESHIT, AND THUS SO IS HER EVA.

The MP Evangelions are stronger because they lack a moral faculty that could constrain them and they fight as beasts.

She fights as a goddamned psychopath, but I didn't see her eating anything during that fight, or sexually molesting it, for that matter.

Asuka has a brain, the MP-Evas were savage beasts. A Dummy Plug get the Evas to move, but not much more.
Asuka used strategy in the beginning.
The MP-Evas weren't weak as in raw stregth as evidenced by poor Asuka's eventual fate. They just bit her (and Unit 2) appart like they were cheese.

The MP-Evas only re-activate, not regenerate.
