A ha a Signal Termination Plug, it basically prevents the Eva unit from turning on when it is not in use. Never knew that came as one of the accessories for the EVA-00 action figure, and just out of curiosity which brand/version is it?

It's Eva 00 Soul SPEC.

I'm glad the cross has a meaning and it's not just randomly put there because it looks nice.

If it stops the units from being used why bother putting handcuffs on it?

Maybe because as humans we don't trust even the most "secure" of things. And really, when you have 80 meters organic beings with godlike powers you can't be cautious enough.

Aren't Evangelions around 45-50 meters?

The signal termination plug stops the Unit from Starting up by itself, not from someone trying to use it. The handcuffs must be some sort of contingency plan, or they just add more dramatic effect to the notion that the Eva's are bound to human will by restraints and armor.

Well in the artwork book as far as I can recall they say that the actual height is 80 meters. Let me find those images and post them if I find them.

The Eva's constantly vary in height depending on what the artists thought looked best in the scene.

I've heard that before and it seems it holds ground. Still I like to think they really are 80 meter beasts. But anyway they are never below the 40 range.

Signal Termination plugs are basically big nonconductive rods shoved in to keep synapses from making connections. I'd wager that the handcuffs are there in case an Eva manages to somehow get a signal through and starts berserking.

Really, Ritsuko has to deal with so much BS from the Evas and Angels on a day to day basis, I'm betting she handcuffs empty test tubes just in case they start to set off Third Impact.

Actually *someone* surely thinks that it's not been putted there randomly or simply because it was a restraint mechanism but for a precise and *deep* symbolism...
Anyway it's really a nice picture, thank you for showing us.

I wonder why it didn't just get its core removed like Unit-02 in 2.22. Core removal would definitely mean zero chance of reactivation until it is installed again.

Due to the magic of CGI and more consistency in Rebuild the Evas are officially pegged as 80m. Both the 1.0 and the 2.0 Complete Record Collection books illustrate this quite clearly.

But seriously...maybe Kara thought Eva-00 "in bondage" looked cool (and there's pointless religious symbolism with the cross as an added bonus) considering they need to restrain the Eva units somehow.

well i think unit 00 has a unique capability that we "didnt know" unlike unit 02 that's why they just restraint rather than removing its core
