Lets say that Mugi is a "healthy" girl.

Also even if it bores you just stick with it till season 2 - Personally I think the quality really got better at that point. For some reason other "Slice of life" anime I've watched didn't manage to keep my interest during an episode like K-ON did, 2nd season at least.

The second season is way better than the first. I was bored through most of the first, but the second got me hooked every week.

edit: Finished the 1st season of Black Lagoon, or perhaps it's better to say, finished the 1st half of Black Lagoon... It's great, and I couldn't stop laughing at Revy and the Taiwanese woman xD

Agreed. Second season is a lot better than the first.

Finished this past Spring’s House of Five Leaves from Studio Manglobe. Great stuff! Period crime-drama that relied somewhat on a slice of life format, with a sparse character-driven undercurrent throughout its 12 episode run. It’s open-ended enough for future seasons (which would be awesome), but I somehow doubt that any will be forthcoming. Animation was consistent and the artistry in the backgrounds was great. Art style overall was certainly unique, and I think it worked to the work’s advantage. Its strongest aspect was definitely its character development, however. Overall I’d say roughly 8.5-9/10 or so. :)

Following the manga's style (just as the same mangaka's Ristorante Paradiso which got an anime last year).

I just got over my laziness and watched Perfect Blue.

This movie switches between real and fiction so fast and fluid, I didn´t "get" the whole thing until the ending credits.

Then I went "OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH."

Awesome movie.
Not entirely my cup of tea though.

8.5/10

Today I finished Sora no Woto's specials, and started Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls (preaired episode). I might watch this one because of the samurais, the drawing style and the seiyuus, but I wish they put less fanservice. Well, at least it's not like HOTD... (which I saw too)

Finished the Great and late Satoshi Kon's Paranoia Agent. Loved it as I expected, unfortunately I couldn't find it in Japanese. I was looking into buying the complete collection but RAGED upon discovering the BBFC cut 1 min 20 secs out of the 8th episode [Even after rating it an 18 cert] I don't want to buy a cut version but my DVD player can play region 1 or any region except 2 ;_;

I'm going to start The original TV series of Devilman so I hope that goes well, I'm still upset nothing past the second volume of the Devilman manga was made into an OVA [Amon, the 3rd OVA, was AWFUL AND I HATE IT so it doesn't count] that would have been rad.

I picked up Lucky Star again.

It gets pretty good after a few episodes.

The second Sora no Woto DVD/BD episode was basically epilogue to the whole story, ep 13 (albeit too long for tv episode)

And I loved it.

I really wish there'd be more eventually, but I know it's a vain hope ;_____;

This ep at the same time established ground for possible future continuations AND provided strong closure that practically all the time said "this is the last time you'll see these characters".

At the same time funny, relaxing and touching. Just like SoL is at its very best.

Loved, loved this episode. Noel and Yumina were hilarious (Noel's dream & reactions to it = :rofl: ), Kureha's dream was surprising and heartwarming whereas Rio was all awesome and badass like she should be. She started to get all Nausicaäsque towards the end :lol:

I'm guessing that'd be the hanging sequence (having done the usual 'buy the disks, watch the fansub' thing). Also, a little bit of googling should turn up the region unlock mantra for your DVD player, if you don't want to just watch with one of the usual region agnostic software players on your computer.

I´ve always thought that some Anime DVD´s were produced with downright retarded intentions.

I saw the first Gunbuster OVA in a store for €55.
GERMAN SUBTITLES ONLY.

GAH.

I burned NGE 1-26 (Renewal, Director´s cut), Death and EoE on DVDs and it´s working alright.
Death and EoE is nowhere to be found on the internet with a decent video quality(shaky and stuff), so I don´t ever plan buying it.
The NGE platinum DVDs look good though, I´ve already bought the one with Rei on the cover.

Yep that very scene. I remember reading one British based reviewer for the anime producing the statement BBFC made about cutting that scene...and then they went on to say, just a few days later, they seen a live-action drama with shots of a 13-year-old hanging herself at about 8-9PM on tv. How an animated drawing is a problem then I don't understand, maybe they were perturbed by how happy she was, but all the same.

Hmm, didn't know about unlocking DVDs, but I'll look into that :D

Watched half of the first episode of Ikki Tousen for no reason (apart from that I probably hate myself). O_o;

God, what an awful show. Why did it get three more seasons?

For reasons that would be readily apparent to teenage boys.

Have you tried this place? I've bought some things from them with no problems. Good prices and free shipping. Most of the dvds are region free.
