Well HoTD wasn't what I was expecting as I hadn't read the manga, but still enjoyable and interesting nonetheless. I think I will rewatch the uncensored BDs once they are out, even though I rarely do it for other anime but this series deserves some delicious HD to do it justice.

8/10 overall

That episode most definitely ended with a bang. Loads of action, minimal fan service, and lots of emotions at play as always. Awesome way for the season to end. Here's to season 2!!

Also, known fact, you should NEVER look into a nuclear blast, and don't you know every single character did just that.

You would think that if there was anyone that didn't need to be told this it would the Japanese. I guess they felt it would be way more dramatic to have everyone take a good long look at the blast.

Ah how easy history is forgotten.. It creates a kind of linking moment for everyone in the series that they all engage in. Gives the impression no matter the distance, they're bonded.

^Yeah, they should have at least gotten sunburns from that, I would think.

This show rocked. It was stupid, mindless, violent, and relished in fanservice, and these are all exactly why it rocked. I haven't read the manga and eagerly hope for a second season, but I thought this was a nice injection of crazy action and ridiculousness in an otherwise bland season. I'd have preferred things more violent, but I hope for more explicit scenes on the BD/DVD releases. 7/10

Any more news on an English dub? I know it was announced but I haven't heard any more than that.

Regarding the looking right at the explosion thing - I was just very recently in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki peace museums, and yeah, anyone looking at the blast got a big load of cataract in their eyes. And then there was also the whole radiation and horrible burns thing.

But considering the implausibilities in HoTD, thats nothing for them, lol.

That was funnier than I expected, lols

(And somehow I get the feeling that the official English dub will be about the same quality)

I enjoyed:
Self proclaimed leftists being shot by police.
That scene with all the awesome nationalist people.
THe fact that it is very much true to the manga (finally!)
The People's Republic and the Democratic People's Republic being blown to bits
Kouta. Full stop.

What I didn't enjoy:
Really? That many fanservice? (Too much flesh shown... but then, Strike Witches too...)
And all those eye brow raising moement (no it is not typing error) when you are thinking "Really?"
I feel old

hahaha, yes. The fanservice was a little excessive, but the action was so awesome, so it was ok.

Just double-checked...false alarm.

When you see it though...

I guess Madhouse knows where to draw the line.

Wow, this anime had me totally surprised. Did not expect such a hurdle of character development from episode 8 henceforth. Some of the scenes were downright masterpiece-grade. This may be coming from an aspiring Zombie movie Director, but I don’t think it’s a stretch. I did dislike the excessive fanservice, but it definitely got bumped up on my MAL list.

I cannot wait till next spring for the OVA, I’m fuggggin piiiiiiiiissed!
