EoE Video Version Next Time Previews

The Next Time Previews for the "Video Version" of EoE, only released on the Genesis Laser Discs of NGE were recently mentioned in this thread. I figured a thread dedicated just to the previews themselves would be good.

As an aside, the Genesis Laser Discs contained the Director's Cut episodes instead of the On-Air versions.

The Next Time Preview for Air was included in the Platinum DVD, which plays after Director's Cut Episode 24' ends:

Text for people who can't read the subtitles:

Air Next Time Preview wrote:TEXT: Preview

Misato (OFF): Shinji defeated the final angel,
but unable to deal with reality, he shuts the world out.
And the promised time comes.
The impending annihilation of Nerv.
Asuka is driven to the brink of death.
The Human Instrumentality Project
is about to be activated along with Rei.
Over the heads of the people rebelling against their own reality
and feeding their dreams, the Eva series descends
as if mocking the deception that is about to be uncovered.
Next time: "Air."

TEXT:
Next time
(Air)

Years ago, I found a realplayer file of the Preview for Video Version 26', but lost it along the way. The footage was live-action, the camera moving across Studio Gainax (at least I'm assuming it was Gainax) while Misato narrates the following:

Sincerely Yours Next Time Preview (Reichu translation) wrote:Text: Preview

Misato (Off): Finally, Shinji Ikari faces the Pandemonium that is reality.
Unable to cope with the trauma, he resigns himself to a fantasy world.
Where there is no pain called 'reality'.
Where there is no fiction called 'myself'.
Where there is no fear called 'other people'.
Where there is no hope called 'others'.
Where there is no existence called 'the self'.

Next time, the finale: "My Pure Heart for You"

Are the Next Time Previews for Video Version EoE at least included with Renewal, even though the Video Version of EoE itself isn't?

I don't remember about Renewal, but the live-action preview for 26' is included in some Platinum editions.

Huh. I wonder why it was so hard for ADV to get their hands on it then.

And thanks! :kawaii:

Would those be the Japanese releases, then? I've never run across the live-action preview for episode 26 in my Platinum edition.

Looking at the Renewal disc for 25-26, the Genesis 25' preview is actually there. Albeit interlaced. :sniffle:

I have a way to de-interlace it if you're interested.

These screenshots come from a Platinum Edition released in Italy. And it's apparently licensed by ADV, so I don't really know why they didn't include it on the US release. Can't remember if the extras were progressive or interlaced, I'll look at the original discs later (the episodes are progressive from the same master as Renewal, though, I don't know why ADV decided to ruin their Platinum with a crappy interlaced transfer)

I'm new to this video stuff, so if you know of any high-class deinterlacing methods, feel free to PM me the juicy details. :toothy:

@ath: Both the preview following DC 24' (for 25') and following Genesis 25' (for 26') (along with some others I don't feel like listing at the moment) are interlaced on the Renewal discs. Beats me what the technical reason could be.

Genesis 26' is not, I'm guessing (in terms of somewhere on that set, not necessarily on that particular disc)?

That sucks if it's not. If I somehow misunderstood what you're saying, pay me no mind. I've had a long and busy day. -o-;

To clarify, I'm assuming you're referring to that 2007 Japanese boxset instead of the single Renewal volumes though I am curious if both Genesis Previews are on either set (mainly because I'm a poor gajin and I do at least have Renewal Feature Films DVD but have had no way of checking out just what's on it yet).

Argh, notation for Jikai Yokoku is a pain... The previews I meant to refer to were the one following 24' (for 25') and the one following Genesis 25' (for 26').

Also, I bought the single discs, since the limited edition box set was out of my budget range.

I just ripped my VHS fansubed copy or the video version one or two weeks ago but it only came with the preview for episode 26'. (Ironicly, adam got me a better quality rip a day latter so I ended up having to make subs for that on my own.) You know this is the kinda stuff you'd find on YouTube, it's odd that it's not there.

EDIT:

Ok, I have them both.
I have the Japanese DVD boxset of the entire Revival version. Disc 7 and 8 have these previews.
Not who you think I am.
