Eva-01, Eva-08 and Eva-06

I originally questioned this in the key of neb thread but it's probably more fit here...

Gendo and Fuyutsuki's talk about a real evangelion and what not made me think the real unit 1 (from the original series/eoe - yes i know sequel talk again!) is actually in unit 06 and not in 08. Unless the translation i read quoted was wrong - they explicitly say mark/(unit?) 06.
This then brings it down for Gendo to use as he wants, as it has now been awoken.

To quote Legandary:

Fuyutsuki: The Mark-06, isn't it?

Bit of a fan-wank, and probably has holes in it i'm unaware of due to me being rusty in all things eva, but it seems quite convenient to me!

Yeah, your post is basically tangent bait. You might want to copy and paste + edit the majority of it so that it's in this thread only.

I'm not really sure how you're coming to your conclusions from that quote. When Fuyutsuki mentions the "Mark-06", he's referring to the "true Evangelion" that Gendo has just mentioned. Eva-01 is a totally separate entity in the conversation. I don't see anything indicating that they're identifying Eva-06 with Eva-01. There's nothing elaborating upon exactly what "the current body containing Eva-01" is supposed to mean, for that matter.

Yeah i guess it's just hopeful fanwanking. There's nothing (thus far) to really support that Gendo, Fuyutsuki or Seele for that matter are knowledgeable about any "prior" events or eva's let alone being in that same universe (bar a few questionable shots and phrases). I'll give it one last fan wank below.

I'm reading it as Fuyutsuki is saying that mark-6 is the current body containing unit 01 (another - the original "true evangelion" unit 01, so to speak).

When it comes into mind it was taken out of context too, but never the less, let's get back to more interesting territory with these discussions :).

I do think that what unit 06 may be though, could be more important than what unit 08 is/ is made from. It's hard to say with so little detail, but i get the feeling 08 will simply be an instrument.

I pretty much agree with rilocay

I think that if the sequel theory stands as every thing is repeating itself then the Mark-06 is the original Unit-01 from EoE that eventually drifted into the moon after a few million re-happenings of EoE, Seele, Gendou and the rest of the supper happy fun crew put 1 and 1 together and made 6 in hope of bringing an end to the eternal cycle

I honestly don't believe there will be any more pilots then the crew we got now.

They would have shown their face in the trailer if ONLY so they could sell merchandise of them for two years before Q comes out. (See Mari).

It's too late in the game to introduce new characters. The children will join Kawrou and rebel.

Shinji hates his father and NERV, why would he stick around. Asuka is being used as a lab rat instead of being cured, AND was betrayed by Gendou who tried to kill her. Rei is sick of being a doll, and will do whatever Shinji says (irony). And then Mari already said she wants nothing to do with the adults.

Mark my words. This next film will be kids vs. adults. In with the new and out with the old will be the message.

That's a fine theory, Lonecow, and in keeping with Mari's comments; but what do you make of Anno's belief that there are no adults in Japan?

My guess is that Mari won't be one of the children at the gathering since she's following her own agenda that seems to only be known to Kaji at this point.

Still: if not Mari, then who? Surely nobody in Rebuild besides Asuka, Shinji, Mari, Rei, and Kaworu qualifies as one of the "children chosen by fate."

I know you're joking, but I would be absolutely fascinated if they decided to use Shinji's soul for the core of Unit 08, and we got to see at least some of it from his point of view.

===Gendo & Fuyu===

Gendo and Fuyutsuki have evaded the crackdown on Nerv HQ and are attempting to infiltrate the mysterious Golgotha Base. In an attempt to foil Seele’s efforts to manipulate Shinji and Rei, perhaps.

Here’s some stuff for them to mysteriously say to one another.

Fuyutsuki: So your son has been returned to his original form at last.

Gendo: No. Seele will prevent that from truly happening.

Fuyutsuki: The pilot of Eva-06 began the process. But was it part of Seele’s scenario, I wonder? That boy… He seems to have an agenda of his own.

Eventually, the two discover the completed Eva-08.

Gendo: Eva Unit 08. So they’ve completed it already.

Fuyutsuki: This is very dangerous, Ikari. In the hands of Seele, powered by the soul of your son… Both feel betrayed by you.

Gendo: But we still have Eva Unit 01. …and Eva-07.
