If they had any smarts they could get it a semi-theatrical release this year and it would be a solid runner for Best Animation at the Oscars next year. Evangelion 1.0 lost out because the film didn't get a U.S. theatrical release till 2009, a whole two years after it's original release and was thus disqualified from the running by the Academy's rules (rules which are played around with more than a Kennedy plays around at a whore house...what did I just write?).

If Funi do that off who knows, the film if lucky (2010 in no way is going to be as strong for animation as 2009 was) could pull off a Secret of Kells. Sneak into the category and become a name on everyone's minds.

Of course I have my fingers crossed they do the most logical thing and try to get release the film in November 2010, a full year after the release of the first film.

So, do you guy's think there'll be 2.0 trailers on the disc or not?

I don't really know what to think, myself.

But I am kind of doubting it, but hoping there will be.

The preview will definitely be there, but more than that is doubtful, unless they've secured the rights to 2:0 as well.

IMO they should've released it on the Ides of March. Would have been much cooler.

I suspect Best Buy will have 1.11 on the shelves before the release date, just like they did with 1.0.

So will the 1.11 blu ray really be a true HD release? Because all of Funi's blu ray releases so far have been absolute garbage. Just upscaled DVD's with some DVD's looking better in parts.

Really? Funimation's released other anime on Blu Ray? News to me if so. But yeah with the Eva 1.11 Blu Ray i dont believe its just an up-scaled dvd on Funimation's part. I believe they actually did get the Blu Ray copy from the Japanese. By all means Funimation's Blu Ray for Eva 1.11 should be identical to the Japanese release. To release an upscaled Eva dvd would be terrible and unethical.

They've put out a bunch of anime box sets of tv series on blu ray now, they have all been simply upscaled SD content. I seriously hope they aren't lying about this release though.

Their DBZ movies on Blu Ray where rather great, and I hope this one on Blu Ray turns out well. I have been told most of their series on blu ray like D. Grayman did not look that great in HD.

There's an alternate music score for the whole movie? That's kind of weird...

So i visited Anime News Network today and it said that the new Eva 1.11 dvd and Blu Ray has about 55 min of bonus material. Nice. I confirmed it on the amazon.com page and it listed all the extras mentioned by Zeon above.

Looks to be a must buy for me now. :toothy:

 Hopefully Funimation realizes that we're sick of Matt Greenfield's fuzzy logic, and Tiffany Grant's Asuka collection.

I highly doubt it. So far all of the extras listed for 1.11 appeared for the Japanese dvd release. If anything these are the same extras that the Japanese release got.

Apparently there is a 20-page booklet inside.

I pre-ordered the DVD version of 1.11 (yay region restrictions)

Also in the UK Manga Entertainment is not releasing 1.11, instead they are releasing 1.01 on Blu-Ray

Yeah I mean.. Why not? Just release the worst version of the film on Blu-Ray, paying for a new version-- and better version- is just too much hassle.
