Yes and completely so.....
I would love to see Eva unit 04 and it's pilot come back at any given spontaneous moment. I mean like, Eva 01 somehow got out of a Sea of Dirac, who's to say that Unit 04 can't? (Whoever its pilot turns out to be if revealed...)

There was no pilot for EVA 04 at the time. They used the dummy plug system for EVA 04 +S2 Engine Test.
Moreover, EVA 01 was unique from the beginning that it was born from Lilith, not Adam.
The last two installments should have at least some references to the First Ancestral Race. (First Ancestral Race are the alien race who created the Adams and Liliths and launched them to countless planets.)

As a serious answer, I have the feeling that if Q and Final are separate films, then it's going to end up like this:
Q: Ends on yet another cliff hanger.
Final: Picks up where Q left off. It's similar to EoE in the sense that the first half is more or less action and the second half is mindfuckery/whatever else Anno comes up with.
But who knows.

- I also second the idea of another penPen bath scene, this time with Mari.
- Shinji continuing to become a stronger person.
- a deep conversation between Shinji and Kaworu, maybe this time a little less (suspect).
- Shinji really standing up to Gendo.
- Rei continuing to show affection towards Shinji. Maybe a shy interaction of her giving back his music player, or even better her not willing to give it back because it holds special meaning to her.
- Misato conflicted on how to show womanly affection towards Shinji w/o being slutty.
- If Kaji is killed, we find out who it really was. (personally I hope it was Misato)
- (for comedy sake), Shinji, Toji, Rei, Asuka, and Mari getting a little drunk and playing the King-Game
