Stop kidding yourself. Of course your not the only one who wants LAEM to happen. There are many other members that do actually want to see well rendered Evas and live action actors fullfilling character roles on the big screen.

The only thing is many of us are very synical that a LAEM will live up to fan expectations. Our big fear hence forward is that if a LAEM is made that it'll be crap. Both from a fan's perspective, from a film critic's perspective and to the general movie going public.

I think with time, cynicism that it will even happen has displaced the cynicism that it will be a good film.

Just remember what happened with Avatar though. I'm keeping an open mind, by which I mean I'm not caring until it actually comes out, then I'll judge it.

Maybe LAEM will be the DBAF of the Eva series, where it's something that will never happen. I have a feeling someone will end up making it some day just like what happen with Watchmen.

I remember when all of the Jurassic Park fans were anticipating a 4th film in the franchise. They had all their ducks lined in a row theorizing a 2005 release.

But their hopes were dashed by a phony script where Velociraptors ran around with guns and humans gave birth to live dinosaurs. Only after that did the fans realize that the information not pertaining to the fake script was a result of having their wires crossed with some other 4th franchise installment called Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, that didn't end up coming out until 2008 anyway.

That's kinda what LAEM reminds me of. Jurassic Park 4.

Meh. There have been many other films that have sat in development hell in the past. Watchmen was one of them. Superman Returns as well. I think its inevitable that Eva will get the film treatment one day. And unlike Jurassic Park, its relatively fresh and new. This is not a sequel to a dead film franchise were talking about here.

Instead if done right we are looking at a new film franchise.

It's still pretty LAEM. But LAEM does have the chance walking down a similar path to LOTR. Maybe not as great as that trilogy was, but it took nearly a decade to see LOTR on the big screen and I think Evangelion will have to follow a similar path to reach the big screen. This drastically decreases the chances of actually seeing it, but hey, time can nurture something great and it certainly did with LOTR.

If LAEM was produced by Peter Jackson, I would be somewhat satisfied. Sure he changes a lot of crap(like in LOTR) but the movies still respect the original material and get the major points across.

The problem is getting a big name like him interested.

A Michael Bay Evangelion film would be quite lulzy. (imagines Shia Labeuf as Shinji)

I rather no see a big name director be a part of the movie someone like Roland or Michael Bay.

The "best" director we'd get would probably be Uwe Boll.
Awesomely Shitty
-"That purace has more badassu maddafaakas zan supermax spaceland."
-On EMF, as a thread becomes longer, the likelihood that fem-Kaworu will be mentioned increases exponentially.
-the only English language novel actually being developed in parallel to its Japanese version involving a pan-human Soviet in a galactic struggle to survive and to export the communist utopia/revolution to all the down trodden alien class and race- one of the premise being that Khrushchev remains and has abandoned Lysenko stupidity

Getting nobody at all to direct would be better then that choice.

The way I see it, one of the main reasons it's been so difficult to get the LAEM project off the ground is the religious aspect of it. The religious undertones are just so prominent in the anime, it'd be immensely difficult to make a Hollywood movie version without the religious nuts and the mass media coming at you full force with a holy smiter. More importantly, you risk alienating thus loosing a huge portion of the potential audience, even if they're not religious, simply because the movie depicts the Holy Bible, Christianty and Judaism in a distorted light merely for the sake of aesthetic appeal.

While I suppose they could leave the religious stuff out, but being the essence of it, it wouldn't be Evangelion. Hell, it wouldn't even be called 'Evangelion'!

I'd love to see how they'd go about tackling this.
"Wars Begin Where You Will... But They Do Not End Where You Please."
