Looks like the Funi Eva website is down, so they're probably getting ready to update it with 2.0 info.

Or maybe with the new DVD release in March.

How would Funi be dubbing it now?Wouldnt they need to get their hands on a copy of 2.0 or something in order to be able to dub it?I mean, how did they dub 1.0?Did they get a DVD copy or something?I'm just curious on how they could be doing it now when 2.0 is coming out on DVD for Japan in spring.

In the old days North American licensors probably recieved vhs tapes and or film reels of the stuff they were going to dub. In today's relatively more hi-tech world, i would guess that yes....either they get a dvd copy or perhaps a digital file on hard drive from Khara themselves.

Thats probably how they would get it either way....

I also forgot audio tracks too. Often times North American distributors would have to get their audio files for music and sound effects seperately too.

Well if Funi plays this in theaters, unless they just want to show it on dvd etc, wouldn't Khara need to send them a 35mm print of film?

If Funi plans to show 2.0 in theaters I assume they'll do the same thing they did with 1.0

I don't remember. I think some threads relating to the movie theater showings mention it.

Wouldnt they need to get their hands on a copy of 2.0 or something in order to be able to dub it?

Maybe but anime movies seem to be dub quicky now these days. The new Pokemon with Arecus that cameout on July 09 cameout on Nov 09 here in the USA. I would not be shock if they already working on a 2.0 dub.

Yeah. But wouldnt they say they have the rights to it though?I mean,it would be awsome if they were dubbing it allready but I find that a little strange especially if Japan hasnt released it on DVD yet.Well, maybe they're taking a different approch this time and instead of saying they have the right, they're just gonna dub it to suprise the hell out of everyone who werent expecting it.And will just keep the having the rights thing hush, hush for now.IDK.This isnt all that likely so.Meh.

Not exactly

They dubbed 1.0 in late 2008, and announced they had the license on New Years 2009 so yea they could have the rights of 2.0 by now and be dubbing it.

The Pokemon situation is an exception, because they don't really go through a third party (FUNImation, Viz, etc.) to go through. Same reason why Bandai can simul-dub Gundam Unicorn, because Bandai in USA is just an extension of Japan.
We watched 'The Lion King' in my math class once. After it was over, the teacher passed out worksheets that said: "If the circle of life had a diamter of 46 inches..."

My showing had it presented from a dvd. Blu ray version of 1.0 apparently. But my damn theater had to **** it up since the projectors in the theater had terrible lens for focusing the images properly. The result? A ****ing blurry movie all the way through..... :smirk:

Makes me sick.....oh wait off-topic heh.

Anyways yeah like others have said i wouldnt be surprised if Funimation already has the rights to 2.0 and are in the midst of preparing to dub. I kind of doubt it that they have finished it already though.

Anyword from other boards or people that have talked with Tiffany Grant recently? Shes been awful quiet lately about 2.0...... ;)

I think you got that backwards.Funi got the license for 1.0 on New years 08 and began dubbing it early last year.So,Idk.They could have the rights allready or they wont get it til the end of the year.Who really knows.

No they announced they had 1.0 on New Years 2009. And they started dubbing before they announced.

And today's title is Funi rescuing FLCL, which am happy bout, maybe now we can get a decent priced release of it. And they are releasing it on BD. HELL YES

Who knows what Funi is up to with the movie, if they likely have the rights to the movie and going to surprise us later on. Anything is possible.

If they got the rights to the movie they would have access to lot of source material since they basically eventually have to produce their own version of the dvd and blu rays. At the speed they are going though I doubt they are already dubbing 2.0, they took their sweet time getting out just 1.01
