Evangelion New Theatrical Edition: Break/Destroy (Ha) aims for a Spring Release.


The 12/19 release of "Cut (Monday No. 1)" magazine contains an interview with director Kazuya Tsurumaki.

According to the article, the "Break" (Ha) DVD will aim to have a Spring launch, and is in the midst of a retake.

It's stated that currently, the DVD of Break (Ha) is in the process of a retake so I felt inclined to mention that.

And there you have it. Hopefully it will include some extra scenes ala 1.11 instead of just being clean-up work, though I guess we'll see.

Someone should rewrite that news post before retards start thinking that the doujin "Re-take" is in any way related here.

I fixed it, considering Faz is all the way in Aussieland and by the time he signs on, confusion could already spread.

So it seems that 2.0 will follow the same release structure as 1.0, bring out slightly edited version for first DVD release, then whip out the good stuff for the Blu-rei/second DVD release.

I'm still hoping that 2.0 will get right to the good stuff for it's first DVD release but I guess we'll see.

Something to look forward to next year. Im heading to Otakon next summer around August, Im hoping I might get to find some info about 3.0 there.

I like how one of the comments on the blogpost is bitching about no Blu-rei release info.

Well finally!!! Some long overdue news about the DVD release at last! Aiming for a release date next Spring? Next Spring? Oh GOD THE WORLD HAS FROZEN OVER!!!!!!!













Nah just kidding... :) I'm all for it I guess since they will be adding touch-ups and some new scenes. A minor disappointment to be sure since its basically almost going to be a year to the day the film was released before this comes to dvd. But at least i can look forward to something that can accompany the 1.11 Blu ray after we get that from Funimation in March.

Also, Amazon.jp has a blu-ray 2.0 page up but that's been there forever.

What's this about different versions? There going to be more than 1 version to choose from come spring 2010? Or am I reading to much into that and it just means the difference between the theatrical and home version.

When I read the news post, I thought, these are no real news for me ;) .

Perhaps this didn't reach the English speaking world, but back in October Universum Anime announced in Germany that they will release Evangelion 2.01 on May 7th on Blu-ray and DVD. And in the German magazine Animania they also mentioned redone and extended scenes for this release.

I concluded that the Japanese release will be before before May, so that the release will certainly be Spring. But it's good to her something from Japan about this topic^^.

I hope they do a special edition like 1.01. I want some more film strip + other useless extras.

It's about time! I hope they don't release a dark version this time like they did with 1.0 though. I can't wait to get the blu ray version and finally see 2.0 clearly!

Also like you said everything is being released in blu ray at the moment so maybe they thought they didnt need to announce it, its just an assumption that its gonna be released to blu alongside the dvd.

So I was considering translating the Japanese but it looks like far too much to actually translate so here's the jist of it instead: it seems like the DVD/Blu-Ray will be set to be released sometime in March through May.

Besides that, the post just talks about the image transferring process and wondering when Q will be out.

He's talking about digital masters and telecine versions and stuff, and actually makes reference to the darkness issue. (as far as I can tell)
