I enjoy the irony of a holiday celebrating thankfulness towards native peoples eradicated the next summer.

"Thank you for this turkey and corn and nubile virgin tribeswomen, now get off our future land!!"

Can't say I share the whole "feel bad because we "stole" a continent from some people" view. Sure, Native Americans got a pretty shitty deal, but it was only natural that the two societies fight each other, with the better equipped being the victor. This sort of thing happens all the time in history. Two groups of people want the same resources, and so they duke it out. To say that Native Americans had some claim to this land is wrong, though. It's still up for grabs, and it always will be . We don't own it anymore than they did, we just happen to possess it. Granted, it would be more difficult now, but that still doesn't mean its ours. And besides, it's silly to feel remorse for actions you haven't done. Yes, I think what happened to them sucks, but it's been done and you can't do shit to change it.

Today, I'm gonna nom today without any guilt. Happy Turkey Day, y'all.

Mmm, I can't help getting annoyed with people who have to spoil the holiday for any reason, whether it's fighting with their family or dragging out less than stellar chapters in history; it's like they're afraid of letting themselves be happy for a change and they find some perverse delight in wallowing in misery.

That said... Mmm, egg nog on my cereal: good way to start Turkey Day!

I'm working on call at the hospital today. 8am until 8am tomorrow morning. Already had to deal with 3 alcoholic patients who overdosed on various meds because the holiday made them depressed. Hopefully, the cafeteria turkey will be good (our cafeteria typically has good food), but I'm not going to count on it.

I will eat some turkey and stuffing and mashed potatoes then for some great justice.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!

I'll be going over to my grandma's soon for our annual Thanksgiving get-together. Mmmmmm, gotta loved those home-cooked meals. Now if Dallas will just win I'll be a happy, stuffed Jimbo. :)

Brik: Yeah, there was a guy who donated stuff to our American Cancer Society Discovery Shop yesterday... I think he implied his wife passed on within the past year or so and it's his first Thanksgiving without her. :( I really hope he has other family to spend it with.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I really hope you have family and or friends to spend it with, nobody should be alone on the Holidays.

Cool, I did not get in trouble for creating a tread like this. Well seeing as I was up all night I went to sleep and just now got up and the Christmas tree is up. Its our first Christmas in this new house so it looks rather nice.

Well dinner is almost done so ya again happy Thanksgiving.

I work at a Target Supercenter on Black Friday. I'm hiding in the backstock room until the initial stampede dies down.
