Kudos, FUNi; I couldn't have put it better myself.

That's Rebuild? I mean, they're actually using the same animation cells as far as I can tell. Sure there's some new footage....but.

Why do we have spoiler tags for this stuff again?

Seems like you've been under a rock for a few years. No they arent re-used animation cells that you see in Rebuild. Everything was redone from the ground up. If anything they copied the original art and did some minor tweaking here and there. Some more obvious than others.

Its explained in Evageeks Wiki here. Take a look sometime.

Either the Funimation website has clips from the theatrical version of the movie or they got a wonky version of 1.01 cause it's loaded with EmArgencies.

...why does Ritsuko sound so butch.

And what the fuck is up with that tagline? I mean it sounds so negative. "What the fuck are we even trying to achieve here?"

....Looking at the clips. the little Flanger effect on voices in the entry plug are more distracting than anything. I mean with all the technology these guys have you'd think they could do proper voice projectors.

....and whoa, what happened to Toji and Kensuke?

I promise that's my last re-edit...though Rei's in the next clip.

FINAL EDIT: Ok. So it's a bummer Shinji calls her Rei and not Ayanami. But it's a different interpretation by the dubbers so that's alright. And simply based on the way her voice sounds the new girl playing Rei is a slight improvement (though her "Listen" line was a bit...bitchy?). Only question I want to ask is why is Rei doing a William Shatner impression?

"We...will go.... to the fountain and.... fire a shot at.... the target. "

Um, as mentioned on the front page post, the "What were we trying to achieve again" (click the text) is from Anno's statement back in 2007 about Webuild and the link to it, but having that info somewhere on the site would have been nice that Anno said it. >_<

I get where the line comes from.

It's just I mean, could they have chosen a worse more apathetic line?

To the uninitiated (which is 95% of anime watchers who's relation to Eva is either they watched it once and liked it, hated it, or haven't seen it cause it's "soo old") the overall feeling of that line out of context is-

"Even we don't really know what we're doing. But we did. So fucking buy it"

...and Ritsuko's new voice is TURible.

Did I miss something, I was fairly certain that Funimation has had an Evangelion website up for some time. Didn't they just update it so it actually has something on it?

Before it just had a picture of Eva-01 and next to it "Coming Soon". There was maybe a small summary and a release date for the DVD.

You're kidding, right? She's reading off the instructions like a bullet point to Shinji.

Wait look at those clips on the website, especially the launch of 01 . Dont they look brighter, like they came from 1.11? The people who already have the new dvd said its got the same darkness problems as before so whats the deal with these clips?

Apparently, the page (well, every page on funimation.com) reroutes to http://www.navarre.com/funimation/ for foreigners like me. How awesomely stupid that I have to use a proxy just to visit a promotional site. (Then again, so did the Japanese with the streaming trailers.)

Just an observation.

Their digital distribution only covers USA. Blame copyright.

Was anyone else surprised that the dub was like... actually okay sounding?

Not too much "I'm reading this to a big wall" going on there.

Although I thought Gendo sounded a lot less menacing than in his dub from the series. :(
